Frustrating at times. Crap result. But way, way better performance. At least they had a phuqing crack in defence and attack.

Especially good to see them playing with more width and BB getting the ball wider. Also good to see D. Fifita getting big minutes and the forward pack supporting each other more often. Also Holmes spending time at fullback - he looked dangerous and it felt like we were playing with two fullbacks at times.

Lots more.work to be done on both sides of the ball. Need more polish in attack and absolutely can't allow that much space around the ruck or we'll get skinned weekly. But much improved performance given how good Melbourne were.

They'll smoke the Titans next week if they play with that sort of intensity.

@ABShark.

We need to improve dramatically in defence, even to take the Titans. It just isn't good enough. A much better side in the second half though.

To be fair, the reason we lost is because we don't have Inglis and Burgess in our team.

Melbourne are Melbourne, we got spanked, we all knew it was coming. It was our best performance of the season but that is not a compliment even if I saw some mild improvement in attacking shape and alot more energy but the way we opened the game in the first 5 mins was a positive surprise to me and looked like we actually came to play some footy and try get some points. Discipline was terrible though as was our defense in general

If Flanno can't get the team up to beat the Titans at home next week I may well have to make a call on him being the worst Cronulla coach in our history (at least in my lifetime). The bloke is demoralising the Sharks fan base

So 1 starting prop gets 10-15 minutes again, this tactic needs to be explained

Not a new tactic from our coaches, I am sure Sharpe did that last year with Gibbs a couple of times, I know Flano did the same thing the year before as well, all in all I don't get it either, strange tactic.

Yeah agree. Melbourne are so hard to handle once they get a roll on. The differmece between sets that start with a good kick and a couple of dominant early tackles and those that don't was huge.

I'm less worried about defence though tbh. We all know they can tackle and by and large they defend pretty well. I wanted to see some endeavour with the ball.

Flano did it with Rossy a few times two or three years ago.

Just got home from watching the game. As a Melbournian it is always hard going to watch us play the storm as we always get spanked.

One thing which is very obvious when watching it live is that our right side defense is terrible, I really think Holmes (I hate to say it) and Beale are on thin ice. When Lewis was on that side defense worked a lot better and then when he left the field it fell to pieces again. Luetele and Feki are much safer in defense and look much better in attack.

We clearly need a better kicker and kicking decisions.

We also need to straighten up when close to their line, too much of this sideways crap.
