Been told the way he is training he will be there round 1. We need some weight on the bench. What prop would you run, I guess you could straight swap him for Taga into the team but he has been very uninspiring as of late.

I agree that we need size off the bench but anyone who saw Houma play last year would agree that he's a long way away. Hus first and second efforts are great... but after that he just can't keep up the intensity. His fitness base is miles off. I reckon D. Fifita is closer and yes got plenty of work to do too.

That said, the obscurity of the signing and the fact that he was already with Newtown suggest that he might be considered as a first grade chance by the Club.

Realistically, Prior, Arona and Taga are the most likely support for AF. They've all shown quality before and deserve a shot under Flano and the new fitness staff.

And Heighno will be there, fitness pending. He started to have calf trouble last season which is a classic old man injury - think Steve Waugh at the end of his career. Hopefully we haven't signed him for one year too long.

Hey!

I love Heighno and he was one of our best if not our best last year.

But would you choose him at prop? Or over a fully fit Bukuya, Tupou, David Fifita?

I stuck Nu at 17 for spark off the bench. Heighno can easily be the 17.

Prior was solid late last year at prop. No nonsense.

caesar, completely disagree about prior he played max 2 decent games. I watched a few replays of games last year and the amount of dropped ball and times he got rolled over was unbelievable. dont know why u think he was even decent this year. I would take arona taga or tupou before him at prop all day. would rather even play heighno at prop then him. Prior for mine was terrible. a couple of decent matches doesnt make up for a shocking year.

Heighno at prop?

You are having a laugh.

He is only good as a loose forward.

Taga only gives a crap 1 in every 10 games. He does not deserve to be in the team if he is not consistant.

Arona too small for my liking.

Prior may have had assy hands but he can fix that. Watch the last 5 or so games, he went good.

Btw I bashed him heaps Prior to him being half decent at prop so I am not being biased.

there is only a kg difference between arona and prior, so why is arona too small?

We only need about 30 minutes/game out of 1-2 props. Gal, Heighno, AF and Lewis will all play the remaining minutes in the three tight forward roles.

Basically it amounts to some impact early in the first half, either side of half time and perhaps a few minutes in the middle of the second half.

Tags/D. Fifita are probably best suited to that.

LOL what? Averaged 95 metres and 34 tackles a game bud, also showed a handy offload as well.

BUT>>>> Those errors and penalties he gave away, and his ability to miss tackles on our own line... Not very good unfortunately.

Heighno is not a prop not big enough starting to get more injuries and it would shorten his career, Arona also not big enough and does not have any real consistant form as a backrower let alone tacking on the the 115 Kgs Boys.

We are still at least one top prop short.. and the fella from the Drags who has been rumoured to be comming to us is not either that's why the Drags are trying to offload him.

can't believe taga is being thrown around in peoples teams. Should be starting in NSW cup unless he trains the house down and performs in the trials as far as I am concerned. I like him but his attitude and commitment stinks.
I know we may be forced to rely on some makeshift props but Taga has done little in that position despite plenty of opportunities.

I would have bench of Toops, D fifita, Prior & Bakuya

Heighno to start

I think I have settled on my team, providing there are no more signings

1) Gordon
2) Feki
3) Leutele
4) Beale
5) Gagan
6) Barba
7) Robbo
8) Fifita
9) Ennis
10 Gallen
11) Graham - left edge
12) Bukuya - Right edge
13) Heino

14) Tupou
15) Lewis
16) Prior
17) Arona

I decided against a utility to start the season as I want forwards on the bench. My team would stay the same but Prior would drop out for Nu Brown if I wanted a utility

Gal to prop is the move that has to happen, if he wants his number 13, name Bukuya at prop but run out with gal playing prop, Bukuya on the edge

hard to leave holmes out but Ricky is the one on edge for me, he doesn't produce the goods early then feki goes to centre and holmes on the wing

I think I agree. He did a pretty decent job last year without being overly spectacular. I think he did enough to retain his position so that he can be given the opportunity with a fresh team around him. But if a change has to happen down the track, so be it.

I'm actually not too worried about the specific line-up at this stage. I'm basically willing to give whatever is thrown up a chance.
