From what I understand there were changes to the way the second tier works so that young guys can play more. I wonder if that person knew about those changes or not.

This is what is wrong with the salary cap!
We have these young guys who we SHOULD blood in the NRL now that our season is gone and we are restricted due to cap issues.

If we do sign a player from the old dart and they have a current contract, do we have to pay the club compensation? If so that might chew at our cap if we can snare a quality local.

Not really. If clubs want to bring these players up you release others. Flick ayshford and wright now, sign a centre promote holmes to fb or wing and get brown ready to move up next year. We've got lots off contract this year, with beau also possibly being done we will see a different 25 next year for sure

You can't just flick a player, they are signed to a contract, you need to be able to find them a new home and ensure they get paid their current contract amount or we end up doing a tigers and paying part of there salary for them

Refardless of cap debacles, it's good to hear the senior players are backing Brown and Holmes (if it's true that is). More chance we can keep them.
The whole 1st tier, 2nd tier thing is a problem. I don't see why you can't play a guy in any grade you want if they're signed to the club. Who or what is this regulation protecting?
