Apparently the Eels wanted Willie Tonga to go overseas but that now looks unlikely.

In other news. Anyone hear about the eels asking for the Nrl to allow the to go over the limit if they make up for it next year. They are sure going to Alot of trouble to get a quality outside back. Problem is they have a few of them but ****ed if they knew what to do with them with Sandow at the reigns.

How is it fair to 'even' it up next year, which in Melbournes defence, the same applies, yeah the talent was there, but it stayed illegally, enabling them to sign Israel now, means they go over, so they have signed him illegally, meaning having him on the books be it this year or next, he came to the club illegally. Id be telling them clean out, or find some 3rd parties.
If they were to win the Premiership in 2013 while over the cap, how does forfeiting 400K of cap space the next year compensate the other teams?
