You still don't understand. When I sign up as a member I'm not donating anything to the club. I'm buying something from the club. I'm buying a membership and what that means. I'm buying the right to be a real part of the club. A counted member. I am a member of the organisation that is the Sharks. You are not a member, you're a guy that likes watching them on TV in the same way you might like watching Glee or whatever you're into. There's a big difference but you don't understand that.

When I buy a club membership I'm not doing the club a favour, I am doing myself a favour.

being part of a club doesn't really have any value to me. if i were to buy a membership, which i would if i could, it would purely be to support the club. i don't need to be part of a club to know how awesome i am

If you're that poor I'll shout you a jug at the Henry Rous next time I'm there watching a Sharks game...

DeathMoth has a point. But he looks hella stupid when he cries poor in the one breath and then says "I gotta save for my O/S trip" in the other.

If I was in his shoes, I wouldnt be handing over 70 sheets.

I do agree though that ET doesnt have to do a single god damn thing for our club. Isnt over 300 games enough? Hes at all the past players do's, fires the boys up in the sheds a couple of times a year and always talks about us favourably in the media, along with appearing on the marketing material. Sheesh. What do people want?

I've never "cried poor". Just stated the facts. I got $50 spare each week after all expenses. That's pov, especially for a person who only has one day off per week. If I worked the amount I studied, I'd be ****ing loaded.

The Big Boy: suck my wang mate. I can do what I want with my disposable income. Save for spending money on a family holiday, buy porn, buy booze, pay hookers. Whatever, that's my choice. There's no hypocracy in using the tiny amount of coin that I have on a luxury of one kind, when others would use it on a luxury of some other kind

I actually defended you in my post and you tell me to "suck your wang". Classy and devastatingly intelligent. What are you studying at uni? Being a dick 101?

Of course you can do what you want with your disposable income. But remember, If you flatly admit you will do nothing to support the club other than sit on your arse in Ballina and watch T.V, and that means you have the right to an opinon that is more valued than others on here who make actual financial and personal investments in the club, you are very, very wrong. Your opinion counts for **** you bludger. Yeah you may work and study hard, but you are bludging on me and every other financial member of the Sharks.

Oh, and another thing. "Crying Poor" means claiming to the world that you are poor. So when you say "I am poor" or "thats pov". Thats crying poor.

Given the topic at hand, shouldn't it be "Suck on my Member?"

I had a Wang for years. I got rid of it because it just wasn't PC.

Get a boutique brewery to make up some Sharks branded beer.

Sell it by the case online.

Maybe we should make a Student Membership which includes a sharks branded goon cask, a packet of 2 Minute Noodles, some chick peas and a copy of the Communist Menifesto? :p

You know it makes sense.

You could always use that beer company that does your own logo design on the bottle etc..... :)

Haha. I'm bludging on your financial contributions to the sharks? Righto buddy. So when I stimulate a pub's income by watching a game which they pay Fox to broadcast I'm not in some small way contributing. Because its not like Fox doesn't pay the NRL for the rights to that game and it's not like the NRL doesn't give the Sharks any money and a comp to play in. I'm stimulating the team albeit a fair way down the chain cos that's all I can spring for right now.

Secondly genius, I haven't claimed my opinion to be MORE valid than any member. I don't go around expressing my opinions TO THE CLUB because I'm not a member there. I'm not a moron. I know I have no say there. But here on this forum of which I AM a member my opinion is every bit as valid as yours. And that's a fact. All I need to do to have a voice here is be a member of this forum, and I am a member, so again good sir... suck my wang...or member. Whatevz

Your opinion is as valid as the readers here decide to treat it.

I for one would treat a members opinion about the Sharks several magnitudes higher than a non-member. But that's just me.

If you'd said something like "I understand how important memberships are, and I really wish I could be a member, but in my current circumstances I just can't afford it" I'd have thought 'Fair enough'. However your tirade has been a bit pathetic and if anything it seems like you're putting effort in to justify not being a member, and in turn possibly influencing people away from being members. I can't give that opinion my personal respect at all.

I fully agree with your right to say it of course, however my right to say it's a ****ty opinion will also be exercised.

Jeez Deathie... with the amount of vitriol in your response, can I suggest that you earmark some of your disposable cash for a visit to your local knock-shop and get a it done professionally.

Yep exactly as I thought. I can't afford overseas trips and me and the wife work full time and have no dependants. It's all about priorities.

Now I've heard it all. A student crying poor while drinking wine out of caraffes and going on overseas trips.

In other sports like the AFL if you're not a member you are ostracised. The way we can make this culture happen in the NRL is give **** to people like DeathMoth who have that attitude. Then maybe they'll understand the intangible benefits.

As long as it's sugar coated they won't see the intangible benefit.

The overseas trip is actually paid for by deathmoths (and my) parents, from both bonus travel points that I ****ING EARN through work, and inheritance money from our nan. Its not like he is funding the trip.

I know how POV moth is, Povo **** wont even come visit me. Ive got a mortgage, wedding to pay for, dependants, bills, loans, I just dont see a place in my budget for a $70 membership either. If I were able to get to games, id buy a full on membership, but im not gunna give them 70 bucks for 15 bucks worth of granny mays ****

so anyway

ET will be a good host.

there wont be any "move the sharks to zimbabwe etc" talk with him on the panel.

in regards to membership they have to work on the quality of what they produce however, the club is about solidifying the member base and what not so...slowly improvements will no doubt be made.

id like a member pack that included some of the official merchandise on a big discount.

Yeah for sure.

I reckon the basic membership should be a sticker, a members keyring with the year on it, a member card, and a gift voucher for the Sharks store to be spent on whatever you want.

Some people may use it to buy some really expensive stuff. Others just a hat or whatever, up to them.

I do really like getting the keyring because I like the idea of having 50 of them when I'm old, and my grandkids seeing them and thinking it's cool that I was a member 50 years ago. I used to do that with my pops Sharkies stuff and see the old logo for example and think how awesome it was. So I like the idea of something unique that only a member is allowed to own, like a keyring.

And then in the store it'd be good if they had more general items like beer glasses for example.

Yeah mate, ideally a few different types to choose from. Normal schooner glasses, those dimpled pint glasses with handles, and 1L steins.

hmm as a student working part time there isn't a lot of luxuries i can actually afford at the moment. i have such priorities as a new wetsuit before winter, spending money for overseas trip, new clothes because all my old **** doesn't fit, bills, rent, credit card repayments, text books, petrol and upkeep for a ****ty car, guitar strings every two weeks for 3 guitars, .... all of these things i already can't afford, why would i want to blow $70 on a Sharks membership which is "intangible" and of no benefit to me. I can get the benefits of being a Sharks fan for free on TV where i suffer a weekly heart attack and subsequent hangover.

If everybody had this attitude, there would be no Cronulla Sharks.

Foxtel is not the friend of Rugby League. Cronulla, even less so.
