Funny thing.... I was going through sharksforever.com today and cleaning up a few things and doing basic info-janitorial type stuff and I came across this thread.
The thread title includes the term "Yes or No" and the poll included gives you no other option than a distinct "Yes" or a distinct "No"
Perhaps a better indication of people's opinions could be gained with a different poll question.
For example; it could have been set up with a statement rather than a question and with a range of response (1-10) from "10 - Strongly Agree" through to "5 - Neutral" and "1 - Strongly Disagree"
I guess the point that I'm trying to illustrate is that the response to a question or statement put forward can depend largely on the manner in which the question or statement is put in the first place.
The last referendum on an Australian republic (an illegal referendum question to be asked by the way IMO) is the classic example.
It is hard to find an intelligent person to commit to a yes / no answer because most of those sorts of questions are answered with a contingent degree of "maybe"
At the end of the day though, a yes / no choice is no different to a double-up on a poker machine. You hope your decision is correct and you'll fully take the credit and benefit if it falls your way. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose.
In reality, nothing is ever that black or white - there's a whole lot of shades of grey in the middle.
Should the sharks sign Todd Carney?
Hmmmm.... maybe... but only if...well, it could work... but what happens if...
