I know it is early days, but does anyone have any feedback of Matthew Wright in the lower grades after the first two games?

I would hope to see him given a another taste of first grade this year to see how he goes.

Played 5/8 against the Warriors and was very solid. He wasn't your typical 5/8, more of the lock at 1st/2nd reciever taking a lot of runs to the edges and controling parts of the kicking game. Had a few good 20-30 metre runs, just didn't have the support. Needs more time to get to a NRL quality starting centre.

Agreed my thoughts exactly.

Yeah I really liked him last week vs the Warriors and thought it was like last year, that he was promising but that he needs more time.

One thing he did show though is leadership. I was almost proud of the young bloke. Was really good to see him being a big person in a team. He was a bit quiet in the NRL.

I think M. Wright is one of our most promising juniors. He just needs confidence and experience.

He sure showed great leadership to almost lead the boys to a away win against the biggest team in the NYC. Obviously judging by my username he is one of my favourite players so there may be some bias here, but I can see this kid turning into a 150-200 game player for the Sharks at centre if he stays loyal. Will be a great asset for us in the centres. Just needs his confidence up a bit and more time to develop a better NRL game.

You don't think Wright will remain in Toyota Cup this season as 5/8 ? More experience there, leadership role. Groom him for next year, Take over Barrett at the 6 ?

whatever position we see wright in for the future id like him to play at least say 5 games in NSW cup at it, i think that could be important for his (especially defensive) developement

At this stage I don't see him as a 5/8 but he'd make a great centre probably next year.

I don't know about his kicking game.

He seems to play the Inglis kicking role when playing 5/8th, just kick it as high as you can!

Yeah he put up a few of those massive bombs against the Warriors, which two of them worked by gaining possesion off them. I don't think he is enough of a natural ball player to be a 5/8 and I think Kelly is our long term answer there instead of Wright. I could see Wright at Centre or Lock once he hones his game to NRL standard. Anyone see that massive hit he put on the Warriors no.7(I think it was 7) where he just knocked him flat. Would be good to see that from him in the NRL.
