Sharkfin do you even no the people that have been choosen if not what would you suggest?how is irvine selfish?what bad decisions has he made so far?what bad decision has the club ceo made?

as for Tynans sponsorship we receive minor sponsorship while the dragons receive major i do not see why peachy needs to pull his head in?

yes we do but as already explained Tynans are restrained from making futher sponsorship by the Toyota sponsorship.

Tynan would of attrated much better publicity and sponsorship and the $$$$ the club so desperately needs. She has that profile, she would of been a much better asset for our club compared to these women whoever they are. Tynan wanted the board to be compiled on merits not on their gender. These board members are token gestures. IRvine couldn get support from Tynan so has rushed a major decision. I said that the decision for the ceo was bad and rushed not that he has done anything bad.

Sharks appoint two female board members
By Ed Jackson

Cronulla have appointed two women to their board of directors to help continue the rebranding of the embattled NRL club.

Sharks chairman Damian Irvine on Wednesday confirmed Denise Aldous and Jenny Reynolds had accepted invitations to join the club.

Reynolds is a ANZ Bank executive with over 27 years experience in the banking industry, while Aldous is a similarly experienced business leader with particular expertise in financial services, consulting services and international private sector development.

The club say the move is a continuation of their efforts to take the Sharks in a new and positive direction after a year littered with off-field controversies.

It should also help to restore the club's tattered reputation with the game's female fans after revelations surrounding former chief executive Tony Zappia.

Zappia was forced to resign in June after it was revealed he had asked former community liaison officer Jenny Hall if she wanted to spank him after an incident in August last year which left Hall with a black eye.

The club has also been rocked by several other incidents this year, including the sacking of halfback Brett Seymour and Reni Maitua receiving a two-year ban after testing positive for a banned substance.

Irvine says the appointment of Aldous and Reynolds was just one part of the club's commitment to changing its off-field culture.

"Since the May 28 AGM it has been very clear to the board that the atmosphere of change at our club must continue," Irvine said in a statement.

"In appointing Denise Aldous and Jenny Reynolds onto the board, we arrive at the culmination of a process that has taken eight weeks to complete.

"Our club has been very genuine in our efforts to modernise and re-structure our board."

Aldous and Reynolds will fill the vacancies on the club's board left by the departures of chairman Barry Pierce and long-time director Graham Gillard.

These womens' credentials far exceed anything that Tynan could offer. It's really quite unbelievable really. A massive coup for our club.

Was not happy when i first heard this. I have been very worried that women will just get thrown onto boards to promote image. I dont care what sex you are, you ned to be the right person for the job. But with the financial experience these two seem to possess then i am now relieved and hopeful. Right now we are in a position where we need our former players on our coaching staff and financial experts on our board. Former players will not get us out of any financial problems. Only risk now is that the football mentality plus sharks and shire loyalty needs to remain on the board, i hope this will happen.

Both Ms Aldous and Ms Reynolds have impressive résumés and appear to be posessing a combined skills base that should be useful for the management team. I'm hoping that this will be a step in the right direction for the Club

That being said, however, I am concerned about the hypocrisy and personal agendas of certain members of this forum who were getting up in arms about the whole Tynan issue - with regards to her membership credentials, whether she had be duly elected, her "Black, White and Blueness" etc., And yet they say nothing about those issues with regards to these two new appointees.

At the end of the day, I want what is best for the Sharks, both on and off the field.

I'm hoping for a time where the current management team publishes, as a public document, it's vision for the future and the strategies it wishes to employ to get to that position.

I'd also love to see on the Sharks website, a section about the management team of the Club, their skills and experience and possibly a personal statement from each identifying what they personally are bringing to the Club. This is not an unusual practice in many large corporations - given that the stakeholders in the Sharks are far and wide, it would be an ideal opportunity to reinforce membership confidence.

no hypocrisy here, i didnt like the way tynan went about things, with her ego and running to the media, changing her tune every week, wanting just to waltz onto the board after rejecting invites for her to join by the board members..she had her chance now bugger off

tynan and her shire business look like crap compared to these 2 impressive ladies on our board, there credentials are what he need, money smarts etc etc etc

great work done by the D-Man

sharkfin/goodwill have to be related to tynan lol

I dont think running companies with guaranteed funds coming in would be the same as what the others have got to offer. Peter Gow is a self made multimillionaire and that was before Elle came along I remember when he was a technician for the education board fixing PAs, then there is the head of Toyota, the head of Shimano, I think there was a bloke from PBX management one of the largest sporting management in the world and then there is Ron Massey regarded as one of the best league brains alive we forget to soon who roped in Richard Fisk it seems that it is going back to jobs for the boys like the old days

Well neither Gow nor Dunphy (of Shimano) wanted to be on the board - as Peachey mentioned, however, they remain involved in the club by way of the ways and means committee - which is basically a group of influential locals who are acting as a bit of a brains trust.

As for your comment that the ways and means committee recommended the Tynan ticket - this is not the case. They were involved in negotiations, but certainly didn't back the Tynan group. Some of the names on the Tynan ticket are dubious to say the least.

Sharkfin or Ms Tynan or whoever you are.

One very simple question. WHY didn't Ms Tynan and her ticket CONTEST the MAY elections????

Why didn't she have the GUTS to stand up and oppose Barry Pierce??

It is such poor form to allow others (Irvine, Surace and Walker) to do the "dirty work" in breaking down the old board and then expect to waltz in and take over as President with self elected Directors.

Oh that's right Madeline WAS NOT A MEMBER so of course she couldn't nominate for selection.

So, if she was not a member, she mustn't have had ANY intentions to be part of the Clubs future structure Right?

Well not until all of this negative press came to light and she saw the opportunity to promote herself.

Finally, you simply CANNOT have a President of the club sponsoring another club. It just doesn't work. The President is required to be totally focused on the task at hand. What a joke it would be for the Cronulla President to be sitting in a corporate box of another club as a sponsor.

Mrs Tynan needs to be very thankful that the Board didn't expose her for her foolish carrying on.

And they were extremely upset that Mrs Dragon went to the media about all of the negotiations - very upset indeed.
