This is a coaching fix. Its bat **** crazy that Nicho does this. Last night he wanted to be 5/8 and half at the same time. was he filling a void left by tricky.

Yep, pretty sure Trindall was 7 and Hynes 6 on the Ronnie try

Great year overall from Tricky.

Hypothetical for the off-season (can't believe we're there already):

Who do we see Dykes challenging most - Trindall or Kennedy?

That’s not the coach though, unless you want the coach to interchange Nicho?

This is Nicho trying to do to much

I just hope Nicho shows more faith in Trindall next season to allow Tricky to take some pressure off of Nicho.

I don’t think this is necessarily Fitz’s game plan but maybe more so Nicho believing as the senior half he needs to be the more dominant half and demands the play more.

Brailey also needs to have better game awareness at times and the courage to overrule/overlook Nicho when he thinks we are better going to Tricky

Thats my point. When they play together as team mates they can score, when Nicho goes rogue by himself and does everything - nothing ever happens apart from full blown adhd.
Yeah I know what you mean mate.

I reckon it creates some confusion for the other half during the game also.

It was costly, but not a reason why we lost. I wouldn't say absent, tonight was all about Hynes.

But I'm no way saying that Tricky can excuse himself, just looked like the game plan was about Nicho getting the ball and doing something with it.

Also doesn't help when our nine is incompetent aswell.
Oh our nine screwed the pooch on two tries .. begging

It's happened way too often, the coach obviously has no issue with it which is baffling.
Fitz has made comments in pressers about it. So I would imagine it does get raised.
Nicho probably just gets white line fever and wants to always compete which means he sometimes “forgets” those conversations with the coach .
Which isn’t necessarily always a bad thing but sometimes less is more and Nicho needs to learn that part of the game.

but I’m not in the rooms so who really knows apart from them and the team

I think the coach doesn’t like the times he gets scattered trying to make things happen from our own half, forcing passes etc

I think him handling the ball a lot is probably not something coach has an issue with

‘Great year’ feels very generous. Maybe in the context of this was his first year as a 1st choice in the halves pairing. For a new starter he was pretty good. For an NRL half he was far from great. Good signs though.

I really like what we’ve seen from Dykes - probably already earmarked for a position which probably answers your question but we don’t know what that is.

Personally I’d be playing him at 5/8 in Cup but training in both 1 and 6 and first backup for both in NRL. Probably still at the stage he wont take anyone’s job next season but after that he’ll be pressing hard and Nicho will be a lot more experienced as a 7 to partner him by then.

Sometimes one person just is in position to be first receiver and the other is in position to be second. They are a halves in partnership, not pigeon holed into set, concrete roles.
