I haven’t got an issue with Hynes’s goal kicking. Its improved out of sight since last season, I think he can get even better.
We missed 2 shots at goal which good kickers would nail (1 from Nicho and Tricky’s was even worse).

We nail them, we win.

Disappointing really

Good kickers miss easy kicks, it happens to them all. 🤷‍♂️

Think about where he was last year with his goalkicking. He has absolutely improved out of sight.

We don't know that, the entire game changes if one goes over. Definitely would have helped, though.
less likely

A missed or scored conversion isn’t a sliding doors moment.
the restart is the same (from half way).

A missed shot At penalty on the other hand, I agree, as the restart is from a different starting point therefore the game changes and shoots off on another tangent.

Tricky should have thrown that first one over.
Maybe Katoa shouldn’t have run around, Tricky may have concentrated harder to nail it. It seems he was a bit complacent given where it was from..
but 🤷‍♂️

It changes what the other team does though

Yeh agree. Just having a bit of fun.

Though would still choose from my top 3 if my life depended on it!

I knew Tricky was going to miss that one, always seems to struggle from halfway to the sideline on the right.

Debatable

Down by 4 or 6 that early on, I’m suggesting that they would have continued to play how they did at that point.

maybe later in the game when desperate but anything could have changed the game again by that time.
I think we all agree that it should have been kicked and it sure as sh$t wouldn't have hurt our chances.

That 74% was probably a lot worse in the first half of last year, he got a lot better late 2022 and I feel he’s built on it this year.
There was also about 3 or 4 games at Shark Park early last year where the wind / weather wad atrocious.

He definitely appears to be kicking better though

The coaching staff are obviously happy with the amount of ball he commands , I'm sure he would have been told to rein it in if not .

Pretty sure Fitz has said that he has been told to rein it in a little during a few pressers!

But they can’t control him out on the pitch.

He needs to trust in others abilities just a little more and that will benefit his and our whole game

It was odd , especially when Hynes kept taking it on the short side with very little room to play with , obviously this is a game plan , but odd .
It gets annoying, they work that one side, then on the 5th its given to Hynes to kick who kicks to that same side and expects chasers who have just done work previously to chase and compete. Not a good plan Fitz, get the ball out to the other half

If we let Mr Genuine himself run the show we’re probably desperately trying to score a try at the end to keep it respectable, rather than 1 point to draw or 2 to win.

Old mate best 40/20 in the NRL **** the bed with his kicking like two weeks ago.

Doesn’t lead or organise the team - it’s an interesting choice to assume that’s because coach won’t let him when there’s very little evidence he is as good at it, or certainly not that he’s better at it.

The bloke we call Tricky but his teammate just call Trindall had the ball in his hands at the death and ditched it at the back of Talakais shoulder.

Hynes does more because right now he’s a much better half. You won’t change my view.

Both have ceiling to keep improving towards.
