I have been consoling myself today while working from home in watching countless videos of Sharks highlights over the years. I am hoping that by doing this, I'll have some sort of positiveness return to me in time for Sunday's game.

I have had fun though watching the likes of ET, Gal, Gavin Miller, Sparkles McGaw, and the Peach show off their talents. I also watched a Steve Rogers highlights reel, what a player that man was! There were also players that you sometimes have forgotten they played for the Sharks, players such as Phil Hurst, Gary Cameron, Dean Carney (still don't know how that man kicked goals with his physique), Paul Merlo and Eion Crosson.

So now, I just might be able to get down to Shark Park on Sunday with that horrible memory erased and some thought that we could possibly win this game.
Talk about viewing the past through rose coloured goggles.

Most of the hysteria in this place lately has centred around the fact we can beat the **** teams - even beat the odd good team during the year - but when it comes to crunch, we are making up the numbers.

88-89 are remembered fondly by fans (that’s when I became a Sharks fan) but the cold hard facts are pretty brutal.

For the younger fans in 88 we were minor premiers and went out in straight sets. In fact we barely scored a try in both games. At least in the Cowboys final last year I thought we were gonna win at times. We weren’t even close in 88.

89 we should of made the top 3. But on the way we lost to Gold Coast Giants (who?) and Eastern Suburbs. Both were a joke that year. So we finished 5. How did we go against Canberra in the final? 1 try when the game was over I think.

Then we had to wait 6 years between finals (imagine this place if that happened now).

95 top 4 finish and guess what happened next?

I love my Ets and Peacheys and Rogers and Gavin Millers as much as the next man, but if we’re honest, they have achieved about as much as the current mob in a Sharks jumper.

Yeah I do wonder if those slitting their wrists have been following us for long. As you say, we've had far worse periods than this, by a long way.

Who remembers the Flanno bashing when he kept picking Robbo over Chad? Yes that's right, Chad.

And then people laughed at Chad for being scored past by Sam Walker... and I just commented on another thread regarding speculation signing him. Grass is always greener

There were times where only being able to beat the **** teams would have been a godsend

Wasnt it only because we wanted to see a Carney/Chad combo? Did we ever get that?

Tough to say what the coach believes and doesn't, but it'll be based on a lot more than well get to see or here. Mine's just one theory on why Fitzy's doing what he's doing, for better or worse.

I do think with Moylan touching the ball a lot before Nicho gets it and points are scored lends it some weight though...

Pure speculation all round, Wilson my old mate!
Surely we’re saying Moylan has been good because he’s able to accept pass from person A and then pass it to Nicho

No, but I'm musing that Fitz might see the value in Moylan as helping pull Nicho and the team into good attacking shape at the right time.

Fitz obviously sees value in Moylan. That's one guess as to why that mightn't be easy for us to spot (I'll be looking out for it now... though it'll be tricky to see on the tele as they rarely show anything off the ball).

Or it could be that Nicho is setting up most of the attacking plays and Moylan just gets a stack of try contribution stats off the back of Nicho's great halfback instincts and Fitz is just a stubborn pick and stick prick.

The camera angle thing annoys me big time.

Moses and Hynes play 2 different roles - that’s why Moses got the job. Luai needs a game manager/kicker which is what Moses is - Hynes is a long way from that

A Reynolds-Moses/Hynes combo would’ve been mad but that’s Fittler for you
So Hynes isn’t a game manager? Not sure who is in our team then, and yes he’s a work in progress but NSW needs less management and more play what’s in front of you. We’ve been playing the gold standard managing half for a while now and we still aren’t doing great. We’ll beautifully manage our way to another lose next week.

What I love about this game is that the dropped NSW half is playing against the same team that the selected NSW half played against to gain selection. So if Hynes rips them apart, and Moses chokes the following Wednesday night, well that is Fittler cooked right there.

We can only dream.
I want to see Dickler cooked regardless.

Not imo - I think he’s more a game breaker like Munster then a game manager, Fitz is making a mistake playing him with someone like Moylan..

NSW lost because Tedesco, Turbo were out of form and Latrell was missing just those 3 alone inform would’ve made the difference ontop of that we had players like Pangai and Hudson Young picked… QLD just did what QLD do
