I like the concept but cmon RLPA and reps don't piss on our feet and tell us it's raining.
Can't say it isn't about pay it's also about (to quote Chad)
“We want a well-funded Past Players Program (money for players), better funding for the Injury Hardship Fund (money for players), funding for a Medical Support Fund (money for players), agreement rights on our employment conditions, match fees outside the cap (money for players), and a first-ever CBA for women, (money for players)” Townsend wrote.

“Their salary cap announcement doesn’t resolve any of that but it’s their way of hindering our wishes.”

Giving us more money up front doesn't resolve that we also want more money at other times!

I have no desire to paint the NRL as the good guys but I think the players are trying a bit too hard to paint themselves as the good guys when it is just two parties in a pay dispute.

I agree some of those things Chad mentioned like Hardship Fund would be good, NRL could probably put more into it if Chad didn't also need an 18% pay rise... oh and on that, still some complaining 18% pay rise represents less of the NRL income than they used to get, so once again (money for players)
It would be easier if all players were provided a brewery. Fans could them provide salary cap exempt income to they're favourite players by knocking back slabs of their ales

I definitely don’t understand the intricacies of the salary cap increase.

However if the cap has gone up like 18-25% and minimum wage gone up substantially. I don’t understand how the players can be sooking.

Does that mean that everyone in Australia who ONLY got a 18% pay increase should go on strike???? Wtf

Would think that most people given the current financial climate would be understanding and happy with 18%

Surely I am completely misunderstanding this as at first read it appears like the players should be ecstatic with what the nrl has offered?

All of the other points like payments for explayers or things like that seems to be a ploy to jump up and down to derail the primary point that they want an unreasonably large pay increase?

There is no real information in that article. No "sticking point" discussed. The only thing we learned was "watch this space".

“The RLPA is going to release a document in the next few days that will state every criteria of the offer that came through on Friday is going backwards from what was established from 2018-22.”

I'll be really ****ing pissed if the players delay the start of the season.

If they really want to hit the NRL hard then boycott SOO.
I'd rather that tbh too, don't take round 1 off me
If they want to send a message sooner rather than later, boycott the All Stars game.

That game is the 4th highest revenue game of the year for the NRL. They make more from that game than they do from the GF.

This isn’t about money.
It was about money when Chad Townsend just said it wasn't so I am suspect until I see otherwise.
I also wonder if the 'going backwards' is a smaller percentage of revenue than previously, that is the only going backwards they have raised previously. They can call that 'disrespect' but I call it 'money'.

Until they provide something comprehensive everything seems to keep pointing back to money.

I can't see the indigenous boys getting on board with that.

Whoops - That was part of the quote that accidentally didn't get pasted in the right section. i.e. not my words. Welch's.

Well Wade is one of the main player reps so he might be the one to make a call on that

All the fan engagement and community events the players do leading up to it?

It will cost the NRL money but it will damage the players relationship with fans more imo.

Of course not. It would be a political shitstorm and the players would cop the blame. If they want to hit the NRL in the hip pocket though, that is the best way.

Will it?
Do most fans go to player engagement things or just watch games on TV?
Obviously I'm above averagely removed from player engagement so I don't care if they do none, as long as they play

That was my first thought but having Wade able to drive it makes it at least a tiny bit plausible

All Stars is massive with kids mate. It's the worst quality game of footy played all year, but it's a big deal for junior/community engagement.
