Sebastian Vettel was an interesting one the last few years with his environmentalism whilst driving f1 for a Saudi sponsored team.
I like mature Seb (post Red Bull) and think he is genuine about wanting positive change, he is a good guy and his reasonable views don't offend me and he doesn't come across as preachy or taking a high ground on issues.
But for so many rich celebrities they are happy to take a moral stand after they have already made their millions and been a significant beneficiary from the very thing they are apparently against but expect the everyday 9-5 Joe Citizen earning $60k a year to get on board and make sacrifices when they are probably struggling just to keep the heat on in winter and pay to keep their car on the road.
Actually a few years ago in a race Sebs Ferrari broke down while he was leading (they are V6 Turbo Hybrids in modern era) and he said over the radio "bring back the V10's" - lol was funny as, especially in context of his more recent views
Lewis Hamilton on BLM and 'diversity' despite Mercedes links to Nazis Germany and slavery. Her won't ever mention the violence and corruption within BLM either.
Also goes on about environment but owns and drives V12 luxury cars and used to fly around in a private jet. Major sponsor is Petronas - an oil and gas giant. Lewis also thinks the world is going to end because not everyone enjoys a diet of cabbage and lettuce like him.
Ask any of them to give back the fame, lifestyle & millions they have earned from the sport and they wont - I think they just get bored or feel a bit guilty so need to take a morale stand on some things even if it makes them look like a hypocrite or disingenuous.
Lewis though who I actually like and respect for the most part is just a bit nutty. Bloke does like to play the race card a bit when things go against him despite being the most successful and well paid and supported F1 drivers in history.
The lights at the netball prob wouldn't even be on without mining. However this indigenous netballer - I think her stand is fair enough as Gina is in the family of someone who said something disgraceful about her people and even if Gina has good intentions and apologies or distances herself from her father and his comments or whatever I reckon it would still be uncomfortable and cut to the bone - put yourself in her shoes.
