Sounds like he is backing himself like Toby did. Good on him!

Great signing.

I was just on the FB page announcing it (yes, I'm mad I know), and I found myself arguing with some guy on there who reckons Pele is a better defender than all our other forwards put together.

Either has to be Pele himself or one of his close friends. Some other dude broke the news that he is off to the Dogs now and this clown then says that it is not confirmed. I'm sure it has been though, can anyone else verify this?

Sharks prop Royce Hunt has signed a contract extension, one that will see him remain at the Cronulla club into the 2023 season.

1 year extension.

So we do this all over again from Nov 1 (in about 10 weeks).

There is this “reportedly” signed

BULLDOGS ADD TO PACK

Bulldogs supremo Phil Gould has reportedly landed two new forwards — Franklin Pele and Andrew Davey.

Davey, who has become a first-grade regular, and Pele, who has just one NRL game under his belt for the Sharks, will make the move to Belmore according to The Daily Telegraph.

Pele, 21, weighs more than 120kg and has a cult following at Cronulla’s feeder club the Newton Jets.

According to reports the Bulldogs are hoping to get the hulking prop fit and increase his potential minutes.

Meanwhile, 30-year-old Davey, who was a late bloomer in first grade, is set to make the switch.

Davey made his NRL debut at the Eels in 2020, becoming the fourth-oldest debutant in the history of the game at 28-years old.

After making the switch to the Sea Eagles in 2021, Davey suffered a season-ending knee injury but has been strong in 2022.

Hunt knows he'll be worth a lot more in a year. I love to see these guys back themselves. Big risk/reward call to make, he could get a serious injury and be left in the cold
It'd have to be up there with career ending to be left out in the cold. You'd think even an ACL or something at least we'd still give him an okay contract.

To be honest Chad, I think that guy on fb is just trolling everyone and with you arguing with him and then posting here about it he got out of you what they wanted.
I don't think anyone with 2 braincells to rub together would actually think Pele is a better defender then Dale or McInnes let alone any of the other starters in the rest of our pack including Pele himself.

Signed a contract, but NRL haven't registered it yet.

Yeah I know mate, I really don't understand how they get their jollies out of that. There are so many people out there who need a great deal more braincells - how do these people survive in life? That's what I don't get.

Wouldn’t surprise me based on what they already have on the books

The Kikau and Mahoney contracts were still unregistered at some point (might still be) due to cap constraints.

I hear you, though a decent injury could be a few hundred thousand dollars difference, possibly a year, for a few years of his next contract. I could see him getting a three year deal now.

I just wouldn't blame a lot of players for grabbing as much security as they could while they could.
