Personally I'm not a fan of watching the footy at a cricket ground, way to far away from the action
Yeah I got fed up with it, Force was just a place holder for not having any NRL but felt like I was sat so far from the game with seats nearish the midway point of field

No, I don’t have an issue with a new Brisbane team but I would have thought that to truely “expand the market” then you would look outside of the existing market.

I was actually in favour of 2 new teams.
One new Brisbane team was fine, but also one “NEW market” team. (Adelaide or Perth). This at least works towards a truely ”National” RL competition.

2 new teams also means another game each week.
I don’t really understand how “1 new team, let’s have a bye each week” improves the NRL’s negotiation position when it comes to a new TV/media deal.

My biggest fear now thou, is the next ”expansion” team will still be based on the East Coast (ie NSW Central Coast, or Brisbane’s Sunshine Coast) and we still don’t have a “National“ representation or even working towards one.
Just a timing thing, there will 100% be another team in by the time the new rights come up for negotiation.

Zero chance the Central Coast gets a team, just won't happen.

I think it will come down to either Perth or another team in NZ.

Need a two conference system.

Yeah ok I reckon this is what the money would be for if we get this money from the government that v'landys is pushing for. I don't think we'd be getting massive improvements to the ground as a whole.
Hopefully, just some changes to facilities to accommodate finals and a facelift for the stands would be great.
Criminal we didn't get a rebuild of the PB stand through the development.

That's because they sold the development to a private developer and there is no commercial advantage for them to do it.

You are right though. It's a pity all the stars didn't align and they got funding by the Government at the same time. Would have saved a heap of time and money.

Yeah no reason they would just choose to upgrade stand.
Could have said instead of paying us X pay us Y and rebuild the stand for us. But obviously expense is gunna be coming out of our end of it.

Soccer and Union have already come out and said we need money for Accor, so sounds like there may still be some wheeling and dealing going on.

It just seemed looking at the work going on that it would have been almost more efficient to knock it down than to keep it and build around it. I'm no expert though.

THE FOLLOWING IS JUST A RUMOUR, TAKE IT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT, ALSO I HAVEN’T SEEN ANY EARLIER POSTS RELATING TO THIS, SO I APOLOGISE IF ITS ALREADY BEEN COVERED EARLIER OR IN ANOTHER THREAD:

State Government allegedly want to put a roof on Accor Stadium so it can hold more concerts without the risk of poor weather, the problem is they might have to take money out of the kitty they are putting together for the suburban grounds, including ours. Big issue is that Dom and his cronies have already promised to Vlandys that the suburban grounds will get the upgrades, if they go back on that promise, Vlandys might apparently take the Grand Final to Brisbane in retaliation. State Government is banking on Vlandys being full of hot air and that he’s bluffing, which I think would be a serious mistake on their part.

Thats the rumour going around anyway, so dont shoot the messenger.
