if he has breached his contract, which is likely then we owe him nothing.

Has he breached his contract thou? If he had, I’m sure the club would have already terminated it.

I don’t think a COVID breach equates to a breach of contract. Stupid thing to do but not a breach.

Think Dugan is off covid iso now so seems he remains well out of favour joining I think only Nene and Paterson as top 30 contracted players available for this game not in 21
(including being behind dev list Metcalf and Hunt who may or may not actually be okay to play)

Reckon Duges is probably off on mental health leave and we have seen the last of him in Sharks colours.

Think there was mention he had split with partner/wife around same time there was a reported decline in his training effort that lead to him being dropped.
Throw in not taking him to Qld even after the covid breach was sorted and my guess is he's struggling a bit, which is not unreasonable if those circumstances correct.

Just my guess but if correct hope the club is supporting. I liked Duges and while he probably didn't live up to the price tag he was versatile and quite consistently good for us through majority of his contract, playing 61 games for us across lets call it 3.5 seasons isn't awful.

I wish him luck & hope he gets back on track but no doubt we did not get 800k of value from him in any season he was with us, Flano did some very shrewd recruiting early on but towards the end he made some horrible judgment calls on what to offer players

From DT:

The NRL integrity unit is investigating police reports that Cronulla Sharks star Josh Dugan has breached the state’s Covid laws – 150 kilometres from his home — in Lithgow late on Friday night.

Police said officers from Chifley Police District were patrolling Lithgow when they stopped a Jeep Cherokee at 11.30pm and spoke to Dugan, 31, and his passenger, a man aged 30.

“The men allegedly weren’t wearing masks and checks revealed they were from Gymea and Alexandria,” a police spokesman said.

“The driver allegedly told police they were moving to the area and were going to feed animals, however later admitted they were heading to a friend’s house for the weekend.

“They were directed to return home. About 40 minutes later, officers detected the same vehicle travelling away from Sydney towards Yetholme. The men were stopped and again directed to return to their homes. Charges are expected to be laid.”

The pair are facing police fines of up to $10,000.

Jesus. I really hope Dugan gets some help. He appears in a bad frame of mind at the moment.

What a ****ing ********.

The sooner this bloke loses all his money in a pokie the better. A normal job would do him good. Some people are barely scraping through this time.

What a germ.

His choices of late have definitely been “regrettable” and unfortunately he has been spiralling on a downward trajectory.
He has endured a lot over the past 6 or so months in regards to personal and career challenges. Not an excuse for him as everyone has been affected in someway (some more than others).

So whilst I agree that what he is doing is reckless, harmful and selfish, he clearly isn’t in the right headspace to be making good decisions right now.

I think deep down he is a decent bloke (a bit rough around the edges) and hope he (like everyone else experiencing issues) sees that and gets the help he obviously needs before it’s too late.

He's a really decent dude , but unfortunately makes some really silly decisions.
Deserves the big fine for sure .
BUT , I personally don't want to see harm come to him

Stupid, but somehow i can't help feeling a little sorry for him. Absolute Premium player in his peak.

Agree… deep down I’m sure a decent bloke but not sure if it’s the company he keeps or the grog just silly mistake after silly mistake, none of them hangable offences but never fully tapped into his god given talent.

So the fact he is probably financially okay disregards any metal health issues in your view?
But also he deserves to not be financially okay for some reason?

HG and Roy just did a hilarious piece about the incident, culminating with signing Duges to play for the Lithgow Shamrocks and being Captain-Coach. They suggested he buy the local pub among other things. Was funny stuff.
