I mean the fact this part timer, ex footy player can waltz in after some very soft exhibition style cards and be one win away from being top dog is pretty ordinary for the sport. It's a bit like if a older guy who was playing, say, rugby in Japan, could just step into a first grade squad over an ex-Kangaroo after one lower grade appearance...

Gal's not interested in titles apparently or being number one, he just wants the money.
True and I do believe him in that but the bigger his boxing profile the bigger share of the money and fights he can demand.
Not sure he'd be interested in fighting anyone international (or outside like Aus/NZ/pacific islands anyway). But if Whittaker wants 1.5 mil or whatever Gal might be able to demand similar himself for that fight

boxers and purist boxing fans get so salty with 'ex footballer' Gal cause deep down they know without him few in this country are talking about or tuning into to watch their sport beyond the rusted on die hards
Gal has brought boxing to the casual punter and subsequently a larger market , good on him for taking a nice cut of the action . Could possibly say Mundine had a similar effect on public interest early boxing career
Boxing locks itself away behind pay per view like it's some sort of gold leprechaun
If they want a higher profile in the sporting market without blokes like Gallen propping them up then they need to review the ways they engage with consumers and develop better and more broad boxing talent within the country
It's their own environment and systems which has allowed someone like Gal to come in prosper - mind you the bloke is a decent fighter in himself and fit. without those attributes he would have lost a fight long ago and been less of a draw card
