If we aren’t interested in SJ, Moylan, Dugan and probably more, on top of Chad going, I question the motivation of our squad this year. It’s starting to sound like a clean out, which means why would they give a toss. And the players already signed will be thinking “why impress Hannay, he ain’t coming back and the new coach can’t sack me, so I’ll wait till pre season and put in then.”

It’s going to be a long season.

Some fair points but if the unwanted players don’t put in they are also harming their own earning capacity for next years contract with which ever club they are in talks with.

If we miss out on all options, go really hard with $$ for the best junior halves available. Maybe get Maloney back for a year as a stop gap?

The issue is, not alot of them are signed for next year. You'd think they would put 110% in, and to those who are signed, you would want to show the new coach why you should be starting.

I think we need to Lock in our halves to show where we are headed.
If we truely are chasing Adam Reynolds we need to get him to commit ASAP to give others the confidence in signing with us.
I feel that’s what the Cowboys have done and are now in a position to start to fill the rest of their squad as required.

I think a lot of senior players in the squad have been given the nudge already. If not a nudge, atleast a glance that’s told them “unlikely”. If they have the runs on board already, meaning they’ve played well at a lot if different clubs, what they do here for the rest of this year won’t matter. They’ll get a contract elsewhere regardless. Why not have an easy year. I love that the club wants us to be a top four competitive side, but they should have let Morris go before the off season. Install an interim and give that coach the off season to coach and motivate the side to play a competitive season.

By round 13 we will have 6 points, 2 of them coming from the bye.

Make that round 14. Probably a chance against the cows round 15.

The blue print moving forward - sign coaches for max 3 years, capping the payout if they are sacked, and make a firm decision to keep or sack a coach at the end of the second year.

We didn't have Fitzgibbon signed in the off season. Why are people not getting this? The club is not going to get rid of Morris till they signed their replacement. We didn't sign Fitzgibbon till that same day we told Morris and Hannay took over. Would they have wanted to do it earlier, possibly but negotiations and the process takes time.

Either way I don't think getting an interim coach earlier would have made much of a difference, players would have still known their time is up, only earlier this time. And to be honest, it probably would have just been Hannay anyway.

The players that have been tapped should be pulling their fingers out, otherwise some clubs won't be offering them the money they're after. Or they might find themselves playing for the Jets if they're not putting in what so ever. And it will only prove the club correct these players don't belong if that's their reaction.

You would think the club would have told all players that they are a chance of a new contract dependent on their 2021 form. I don't think there is a complete lack of effort, we came back in the last two games to almost win. Had the team given up, there would have been no fight back.

Glass half full...
Its not uncommon for us to play well against the storm, hopefully we can put together a better performance this week.

From The Mole so take it with salt, pepper, even some chili flakes:

RUDOLF CHASED BY RIVALS

If Cronulla lose rugged forward Toby Rudolf for next season, they will have no one to blame but themselves.

Rudolf is one of the most sought-after players on the open market, with half a dozen clubs after his signature.

The hard-running back-rower was a big fan of John Morris and the sacked Sharks coach had Rudolph talked into signing a new deal a few weeks back.

Morris told the board that he has Rudolf ready to put pen to paper but officials held the former coach in such contempt at that stage that they ignored his messages.

Rudolph is now fair game as a result - and cashed up rivals, headed by the Bulldogs, are circling him with big dollars.
