Wonder how much influence that has on Benji...

With 400k pound$ coming your way to play in a swan song season in a lower tier competition - I am guessing it had 2/3rds of **** all influence

Benji will be expected to crap on about 2005 regardless

If John Morris was their coach and was currently unsigned it would have had a massive impact on Benji's decision though ;):D

Wasn't really clear in what I wrote but I more meant what influence coach had on such a high offer!

Although already knowing someone at the club really well probably did make it more attractive too him than if he hadn't.

I don't reckon Benji was keen seeing out his last year on the bench, which would have been a factor too. Bit of a deflating way to end an epic career.

I can only guess Benji thought he'd get plenty of game time at the Roosters, or off the book payments, or a crack at another ring... or all the above. Otherwise his lowball offer doesn't make much sense.

Either way, it's ended up a nice pay day for him. And the chance to finish with a few more highlights in the reel. Much better than if he'd stayed here. Dude's a class act.

It was pretty obvious he was only a fill in for SJ for the first 8 to 10 weeks off the comp, with no guarantee of a spot after that. Can't blame him for not being that keen on it.

DeBelin going to retrial in April. So there goes the first half of his season potentially, could be a late pick up if found innocent.

Not sure if Dragons will keep a spot for him.

Guilty or not his career is toast. I honestly have no idea how anyone could call this case. I don't see another 100 juries having any better idea what really happened in that apartment.

I think if he's innocent he'll get snapped up before June 30 and yeah he'll be 30 by then but he hasn't played in over 2 years so no reason why he can't play for a few years. He'll be keen to make some cash so he'll go to the highest bidder.

Needs to get off first.

Wasn't that the problem to begin with?

Innocent or not, any club that even goes in the general vicinity of JDB will get to watch their sponsors walk out the door

Tom Starling from the Raiders might be in some strife, charged with Assaulting Police.

Looks like he got dusted in the process

What is it with all these players that do this stuff, honestly do they really think because they are professional players they can get away with this stuff? I'll be honest, if a young or good Cronulla player ever does that stuff I'd be ashamed & disappointed.

SHOOSH II

The drug tests on five Penrith players after the loss to Melbourne Storm in the premiership decider were the first at an NRL grand final for three years. No tests were done in 2018 or 2019.

Pretty funny they didn't test after the 2 Roosters Grand Finals

So is that Barba, no tests, no tests, no tests, Naden
OR
Barba, clean, no test, no test, Naden

Barba (2016), clean, no test, no test, Naden (2020)

conveniently omitting the 2 Roosters grand finals for the club from one of the most coked out areas of Sydney haha

I guess also unclear who they actually tested in 2017, Storm or Cowboys, as Panthers didn't even win the GF to be tested in 2020.

So it is quite possibly
Didn't test Storm (runners up) - winners tested
Didn't test Storm (winners) - runners up tested*
Didn't test Storm (runners up) - no tests between Storm and Roosters
No Storm - no tests between Raiders and Roosters
Didn't test Storm (winners) - runners up tested

Storm have been in 4 of the last 5 Grand Finals and may not have been drug tested once, one of these also crossing over with the Roosters who managed to have no testing done both years they made the GF
Certainly not close to enough to be an incriminating pattern, especially with the uncertainty around 2017, but their high level of sustained success definitely isn't attracting them any attention

Didn't Barba get tested the next day or a few days later ? So it wasn't even on Grand final night i thought.
