Kurt Capewell is one player I wouldn't be fussed on either way, he'd be a decent utility for us to sign again who can handle playing centre & backrow, probably elsewhere aswell if desperately needed but he'd be behind the pecking order with Nikora, Graham, maybe Bukuya aswell in the 2nd row then also Ramien, Xerri, Morris, Dugan in the centres. He's probably getting to that age where he'd like to cement a spot somewhere so I wouldn't be surprised if he heads off getting a confirmed spot by another team.

Pior is back at sharks training.

I'd hope so
Until something is official he is still contracted to us and thus should definitely be training even if he does have a move on the cards, in case it falls through

Could end up at Penrith.

Penrith have emerged as the frontrunner to sign one of the best free agents remaining in the NRL after offering Kurt Capewell a two-year deal.

NRL.com understands Capewell is strongly considering a switch to Penrith but St George Illawarra are also in the picture.

The 26-year-old would be a handy pick-up after salary cap pressure at Cronulla meant the Sharks could only offer him a one-year extension.

The Panthers have not made any official statement about Capewell's potential acquisition.

The back-rower's signature has been one of the most sought-after signings in the off-season with the Wests Tigers also understood to have been among those to have expressed interest over the past few months.

Capewell enjoyed his best season in 2019, playing every game for the Sharks and earning a call-up into Queensland Origin camp as a reserve player for games one and two.

Club: "is your client Capewell still available?"
Manager: "you'll have to act quick, we want $450k and a starting jersey"
Club: *click*
Manager: "hello? hello? oh well, better starting leaking that another club is interested"

If he goes, who you all got to play second row if Wade goes down again?

We actually have a bit of depth at the moment there

Kinda, but Billy might be busy at 13 and big drop from Wade and Briton to Teig. Boogs can do a job there short term but wasn’t really in favour last season.
Sorro may still get picked up at the backend of the squad but same as Boogs he’s probably just a fill in.
2nd row is okay for a short term injury but to me there’s no clear 3rd choice player

What has Bukuya done wrong to be dropped out of favour for us though? Bukuya has been so strong & consistent for us over his years & he is still at that prime age. He wasn't too far off making the origin side either I heard.

I’ve heard that Morris doesn’t like him due to his attitude. Apparently he has been real complacent and not putting in the hard yards. Morris is a real task master

There were games it seemed like he maybe could have been picked but then when he did play he hardly banged down the door to demand he hold the spot.

Think he’d have been a long way from a Qld top
