Because it's necessary.

For example a player has been done twice for DUI and gets caught again. He's not going to jail for 11 years but **** him, should be stood down.

You can insert any number of charges for DUI. I think that's why they've done it, for repeat offenders.

Fair enough. I’d agree with the application of the powers for repeat offenders too.

I don’t know enough about the law to know what crimes carry a maximum of an 11 years sentence and what crimes attract a slightly less sentence. But my concern is when a player is charged ( but let’s be very clear NOT CONVICTED) with a crime that carries a potentially serious sentence but less the 11 years maximum, but the media jump on board screaming blue murder and the NRL cave to media pressure ( not like they’ve done that before) and stand the guy down before he’s had his day in court. It’s trial by media. And all of a sudden the “line” is blurred .

Yeah it's possible.

I'm as critical of the NRL as anyone but I think they've got this policy right.

yeah but if we were expecting say $500k and budgeted for that then may only have $100k carry over to next year

No monetary fine is massive for us so I could live with this scenario.

I’ll take that if that’s all it is.
Aren’t we already sailing under the cap anyway?
If so, there might not be all that much pain for us.

Yeah that’s be pretty easy to swallow to be honest after how ****ing long it’s taken!

Re: the new ‘rules’ around standing players down it’s pretty much impossible to get it right because if someone is innocent they never should have been stood down at all. What they’ve put in place seems like it could be okay but time will tell. At CEOs discretion though we will see some people stood down and others not for the same accusations.

As long as we don't get re-located, dropped from the comp, merge or lose our premiership I'll be fine with fines, even if we get a salary cup reduction I'll be fine with that.

I won't happily accept any punishment until I know the crime(s).

But $300k of 19 & 20 cap would obviously be more preferable than more fines and/or competition points deducted.

We were never going to be snap relocated or booted from the comp, that's rubbish clickbait I'd have hoped we were all well enough experienced with to dismiss immediately.

300k off per year for 2 years and permitted to use Flanno as our recruitment manager would work ok for me.
