Canterbury would have beaten any other side tonight, their defense was immense, they were lucky to get a try off a repeat set which was a questionable call, and Cummins tried to help Canterbury as much as he could with some 50/50 calls which he gave to Canterbury which were very questionable and we still held them out. Our defense was immense and Canterbury I am sure would have scored more points against other sides. Gallen was easily man of the match, followed by Townsend, Lewis and Holmes. Beale showed pace that he hasn't had for quite some time, he must have been working with the sprint coaches because I thought he'd be run down. Holmes' run after Gallen got out of the ingoal area was huge. Brailey will be rookie of the year, and with further progression and instruction from Ennis has Origin written all over him, 52 tackles is huge. Our bench was good. A huge win, a huge crowd with fantastic HT entertainment, and a huge boost for Cronulla. Gallen will be missed when he eventually retires in a huge way.

I'm still livid about the refs overturning that line drop out call and giving the ball back to the dogs. How was that possible? Was anything said on TV?

Was wondering that myself. Didn't think it could be overturned. Commentators never said anything.

Here are my thoughts on the game:

1. Firstly, great kudos to the club for the crowd tonight. To draw 20,000 when 7 Origin players are missing was outstanding. Yes the 1500 dancers helped but it also drew in more people I reckon, the club should be applauded for the promotion.

2. I thought our defence was outstanding tonight. With some of our best defensive players out, Maloney excluded, we kept them to just one try. Poor misses by Brown and Leutele but overall we were pretty tight and scrambled well. With many key players out our attack was always going to struggle but we did make some good metres at times. It was just a lack of class and polish that saw us not able to finish off.

3. Gal was inspirational tonight. Without him we don't win. Simple as that.

4. I thought we had some of our normally unfashionable players shine tonight. Yes, Gal, Val and maybe Chad were good but I thought Gerard Beale had a top game. Not only did he run 60 metres to score, but he ran the ball back strongly and defended well on Josh Morris's side. I also thought Latimore had some immense runs and carted the ball up well.

5. Matty Prior was quiet tonight. I know he got hurt as well but I didn't think he was as strong defensively tonight.

6. Still need to fix that ball control. First half was better but the second half we made some silly errors.

All in all, I thought we did well minus our Origin guys. More than happy to take the two points.

Indeed, but they too were without 3, as well as yenolds and most the game without graham. We easily had a stronger side on paper, dogs were up to it. Great we could get the win in that fashion though as well. Just frustrating watching us attack a try line all night to only score 1 long ra ge try.
true but we were missing genuine quality match winners, they were missing mediocrity (exception being jackson)

not having graham and jimmy tonight really effected our left side attack which seems to be our preferred edge to go down most games

Nu was OK at best but he really didn't step up and get involved enough, few nice runs but typical game from him. All that was left was for Chad to throw some wide balls and put in grubbers while doing all the heavy lifting to organise the attack. Would have got by in the past in having another attacking/schemer in ennis but Brailey is not there yet.

Sometimes it's possible. It depends whether the call will help the result they're looking for.

It was the correct call. Not to mention the real issue there was edrick not attempting to catch the ball

Sales at Petbarn must have been strong today with the meltdown of the Kennel last night
