No it's not, it's a fact. The sporting landscape has changed significantly since the channel 2 days. Players were paid **** all when the game was on channel 2.
it isnt a fact at all, it is far from it

football in europe is bigger than rugby league will ever be and there are games and even leagues that have to be played in empty stadiums
sport survives without fans, it doesnt survive without the corporate dollar behind it. that is a fact
I don't think they know who he isSomething I don't want to see on Saturday night if we lose is all our players standing around Robbo and having a joke and a chat with him after the game.
Did I open up a can of worms or what?
You're probably the biggest antagonist in here.
Danny. That's gold. Being a Lismore boy he was one of my favourite all time sharks.Danny is a better winger than Beale.
Fans pay for the game because they watch it. It doesn't matter where, live or on tv. Foxtel paid overs for the rights with a view of eventually owning all sport in this country, and then making a lot of money. They're losing now, to hopefully gain total control later.
Broadcasters and corporates "pay for the game", but only because people watch it. The fans. Surely this is pretty simple. And I've worked for every tv network in the country so I'm not ignorant to how they work.

All of the salary cap money is paid for by broadcasting money (advertising and subscriptions). Money from memberships etc are used for the day to day running of the club. The fans really do pay their wages. The broadcasters don't do it out of charity.channel 2, 7 and 9 broad casted the game in the old days when there were **** all fans attending
the myth that "fans pay wages" is bull****
With current technology Rugby League is possibly the best suited game for television. Most of the action happens within range of one shot.
AFL, for example, is much more suited to watching at the footy ground because of all of the off the ball stuff.
Interesting that someone mentioned a player wearing a cam in the Super League last round. You'd think at some stage down the track the whole virtual reality experience will be an option.
