Cook might be an OK fit. He can cover a few other spots in a pinch too (has played in the backs in Fg before I think) so could offer some good utility value when sharing the hooker duties with another player.

A also think that after seeing the Sharks target other hookers, they are not serious about Nu being a 9. He's an above average depth 6/7 who can play a bit of 9. I think his future is in the halves, and unfortunately that is probably that is for another team. If we sign Cook or another hooker, I can see Nu moving on for a fg spot - once we sign a decent depth option.

At the end of the day if Nu wants to be a half he needs to develop a kicking game, and if he wants to be a hooker or lock he needs to improve his tackling and workrate. Cook might be what we need now, and is the finished product.

Many at the club including the coach have repeatedly said that the club believes that Nu's future is in the 9 jumper.

Well they should have thought about that now shouldn't they. All they are doing is slowing Nu's development down if the club reply wants to play nu a 9.

Plus newtown had arana taumata who could have easily played there before he went walkabout instead they had him playing all across the park.

You'd think getting players like nu ready for first grade would take precedence over winning really as who gives a **** about reserve grade. Unless we don't get a say because its Newtown. Which makes that partnership even more stupid.

Yep - there were other halves options - and they wouldn't have signed McIlwrick if Nu was going to be the backup 9 (though Nu hadn't played in over a year so maybe MM was insurance).

Flanagan would have a say. Typically I would expect the first grade coach to provide the reggies coach with a team sheet with some of the names populated already, and then the reggies coach would fill in the blanks. You would expect Drew (3), Brown (7) and Capewell (12) to be three of those names each week.

I've no doubt our association with Newtown negatively affects our depth and how that depth progresses into FG.

When is this venture coming to an end?

I have stopped even paying attention to the NSW Cup this season. I really don't care the slightest about Newtown winning or losing. I want the Sharks to be winning or losing.

I don't mind a future hooker getting plenty of experience in the halves. There are definitely skills learnt which would come in handy.

Probably about time he switched if we want him to be ready as a hooker in 1st grade though.
