The crowd tells you what people think of meaningless ODI these days
Yep I see it going that way, ODI cricket is dead from a commercial perspective. If you give me a choice, Im taking 50 over cricket over that 20 over rubbish. But it appears im in the minority. Something has to give, the schedule is becoming too packed as it is, I don’t think we’re far away from one of them, probably 50 over cricket, being binned from the international calender to relieve the schedule and put more focus on test cricket and 20/20.
17k crowd for Australia v England....terrible. People don't care.I was about to cut sick at Warner scoring just 16 tonight but then I saw what he scored in the first ODI
I still think the bloke is lucky to be playing first class cricket in 2022, he isn't even good at T20 and only puts some innings on in Tests on flat pitches at home. His averages over his career look solid and all but he gets out from silly shots and lack of patience too much - been a frustrating player to watch for a long time now but the selectors are stuck to him like glue.
At 36 yrs old surely we look to move on from him soon. The knives were out for Ponting and Clarke in their mid 30's and they were far better cricketers that Warner
Some good bowling from Aus tonight but some poor batting from the English
Crowd actually sounded pretty good over the Tele and radio even if I assume there were plenty of empty seats they seemed to be having a good time.
I think ODI 50 over format just needs some rule tweaks beyond just having the powerplay to deal with some of the slower or more predictable parts of a innings
I’m with you on the 50 over being better than 20 over spectacle from a purist cricketing point of view. I enjoy it much more. However it’s never going to take over 20/20 popularityIf you give me a choice, Im taking 50 over cricket over that 20 over rubbish. But it appears im in the minority. Just over 2,500. Laughable. I mean I’d be happy to sweep the Poms in anything but this series is pointless and no one cares about it. Would of been better off giving the guys a rest before the Windies test series on the 30th.Another massive crowd. Complete waste of time.
Wasn't long ago it would have been a sellout. Sad.Just over 2,500. Laughable. I mean I’d be happy to sweep the Poms in anything but this series is pointless and no one cares about it. Would of been better off giving the guys a rest before the Windies test series on the 30th.
I was listening to ABC, Kim Hughes sounds like he's off his chops.Pretty sure Langer and Ponting just broke the record for most boring cricket commentary combo.
I agree. There’s some other new guy on there too that seems to think he needs to yell every time he talks. Don’t know his name.I was listening to ABC, Kim Hughes sounds like he's off his chops.
Still the only former Australian cricket skipper to have never written a book. (should clarify, since the end of WW2.)I was listening to ABC, Kim Hughes sounds like he's off his chops.
