damm you buz!
mick malone was an incredibly economic bowler in the early 80's(a la g.mcgrath)who only played a limited no. of tests(i think less than 5).he was suited to odi's and would return figuires of 1-20 ,2-25 etc off 10 overs.apart from buz's clear memory-he was a great contributer to aussie cricket when we were crap-(a few of you young fella's would be scratching your heads-"we were crap at cricket-that would never had happened!")
as for AFL(note capitals!)i have no idea if he did.im sure he was victorian so maybe you are onto something.he was a better bowler than watson!
Don't worry about Mick Malone Zak, It's the economy rate
and the wicket taking capabilities of the current Aussie One Day bowlers that is concerning!
'77-'78 were huge years. They were 8 over spells back then (40 x 8 ball overs), and from what I remember, the turning point of the game I mentioned was a Greg Chappell over where Big Joel hit eight consecutive 2's (most of them in the V). The Windies were huge at the time. I love the memory of that ball being belted over the square to mid wicket area and the camera panning to the jubilent Windies in the balcony. A sensational finish. I also remember watching Trev a few years later roll that ball down the pitch
. The Karmic dichotomy of those two games will haunt Australia in the current World Cup!
(I'll Do yrs a deal Whiter and Mega. If my prediction doesn't come true, I
will write that ten page Manifesto
)
