I don’t get the love for D Fifita. I don’t know why people are salivating about him being on the market. He’s a good player but only if he pulls his weight and gets involved. For me, he doesn’t do that, it’s only in glimpses you see what he can do.

I certainly don’t think it’s worth moving heaven and earth to get him in our roster. He’s next to no chance anyway so I don’t even know why the subject is floated.

Some on here all seem to get terribly excited when these kind of things happen.

Fifita? It’s a no from me.

Fifita is the best second rower in the NRL. I understand why people say he drifts in and out of games but from what I've seen it has less to do with his attitude or fitness and more to do with the Titans' inability to use him properly.

Obviously we're not in the market for another second rower, but talking about his value is interesting. What do we think Nikora's on – was it ~700k. Paying an extra 150k for a player who's a) the best in his position and b) a genuine game-changer who regularly makes something out of nothing doesn't sound like bad value to me.

I think it's closer to 600k

If you were buying the player he was when he was at broncos you are going after an elite player.

A lot of players go to the Gold Coast and don't pull their weight. Just has to be their lifestyle or something.

He certainly has the talent and body to be elite. Just needs a better club to get him there. Something I think only Panthers, Roosters, Storm, Broncos and maybe us could do.

He might see it himself that he was playing better at broncos and knows he won't reach his full potential at titans.

Yeah he has far less quiet games last year and this year (so far) than for a bit before that.

Good enough for Penrith to be interested.

Like you say maybe the expensive attacking player doesn't always live up to the hype when playing for a crappy team that doesn't help him to.

Didn't we pay close to $1m a season for AFB?

If the choice was between AFB at $1m and Fifita at $850k it would be an interesting dilemma.

I'll be in the minority but I really wouldn't tbh. I'm not saying Teig is a better player but in terms of managing the cap he's better value.

If we were going to spend up I'd be looking at other positions before second row.
I totally appreciate that view. But as @Proud Shark says, there's a small handful of players like Fifita where you'd get them in at almost anyone's expense. The cool thing is it actually wouldn't break our cap. I'd be happy with a $5/600k Kennedy and that star player money going to Fifita for the next few years.

Position just doesn't matter with that quality of player.

I'll have to agree to disagree with you on that one. Our spine possibly needs some attention imo, everything else is top shelf.

Is Fifita really a game winner ?

All the potential in the world sure but could easily be a dud signing on big bucks
Yep. The Titans became instantly competitive when he returned and they're pretty awful (Brimson at fullback didn't hurt tbf...). Imagine him in our side... Holy cow.

Well, that’s it then.

Put your DFifita dolls away.

@Sir Chadley is in the know and if says it ain’t happening then count that as straight from Fitz’s mouth.

Yep.

No need to go and spend 850k on a player that’s had an inconsistent career in a position we are very strong in
