LOL, growing up through the 90’s I always wondered about how our first premiership winning team would be worshiped by the fans, I thought they’d be revered as legends, especially the halfback, now all these years later, its amazing to see the disdain a lot our fanbase has now for our only premiership winning halfback.

Love the guy for the premiership, good nrl level player but not a super special player. In fact he had a shocker in the gf in my opinion. Has he only played in the one GF?

Mate don't confuse 'a lot of our fan base' with a dozen or so posters on this forum and a few Facebook Warriors.

They all hold a special place in my Sharkies heart for what they achieved. I don't care if they have gone on to become Immortals or dropped to park footy.

Indeed. This, forever this!

As much as I dislike Val for the whole NFL/Cowboys saga, I'll never forget what they all did for the club that year.
Bird ain't much of an impact player these days, but he played for 60 minutes with a busted elbow. That's toughness.
And even though I'm the first one to poke fun at Townsend and his GF heroics (scrum play, penalties, etc.), especially since he left for the Cows, rewatching the game yesterday I thought he actually was pretty good. Did a fair bit of kicking too.

Now 2017... don't get me started on that.

Word can never hate on the best footy season in our history. Sure Benny Val jimmy annoyed me at the time but still nothing but pure joy now when I think back.

As a St.Helens lad, Dodd isnt a bad player. He went well b4 doing his Achilles in 2022, came back was man of the match in the WCC against Panthers and kicked the winning field goal - but the problem this yr isnt Dodd, its the coach Wellens and his total lack of attacking football coaching. Whole attack is stunted

Another St Helens fan I know was saying his confidence still seems very up and down since the acl
But still disappointed to lose him
