Haha, obviously love that side, but I can't remember being as frustrated by a player. He was just simultaneously so big and such a pea heart at times.
He can be as frustrating as he wants as far as I'm concerned - was good enough to help us win (or at least, not bad enough to cause us to lose)
Played 21 games in our winning season so not like he just lucked into the GF

He was big but a lot of it was height, never the heaviest bloke, preferred to try and be a rangy runner than a bash through prop.
Did it well enough to pull together 150+ game NRL career, even if mostly as a benchie

Reni Maitua - was pretty crap for us on the park and turned out to be a shithead off the field

Even if Beau was a wanker he wasn't a terrible wing/centre and did ok for us and let's not lie alot of fans liked the Sharks getting some profile from Beau being at the club and initially at least it was mostly positive. There wasn't alot else going for the club brand wise around that time.

Will be remembered for scoring the 7th tackle try against Cowboys in semifinal.

Looks like HB just doesn’t know enough words!

(I also considered adding Reni, also considered Falinga, fairly low impact but we embarrassed ourselves a bit)

Barrett Springs to mind
This. I had always hated Barrett (how could a Sharks fan not?) and the fact that we kicked Kimmorely out for him is icing on the cake.

The next year, Kimmorely took the Dogs to the prem final. Cronulla finished second last, only dodging the wooden spoon thanks to for and against.

I loved Barrett at the Steelers, not so much once they merged.

I can remember watching him play for the Sharks being embarrassed for him

Beau was a mediocre player at best, only managed to get first grade contracts due to his media profile.

He was signed with us for a reason, to give us some goodwill in the media during the ASADA shitstorm.

I guess off the field he helped, if you can stand him that is.

This ones easy for me. Matty Johns. Nothing against him personally or his legacy on the game but signing him indirectly cost us a Preston Campbell/Brett Kimmorley halves combination which I still feel would of been one of the best in competition. I know Noddy’s signing was the tipping point for Presto leaving but imagine if we hadn’t signed Johns first and just signed Noddy. Still a spot for Campbell in the team.

Again, I dont hate Matty and his Sharks stint being cut short by injury was a case of bad luck, but I just cant help but think what might of been if Campbell wasnt forced out.

Another fair shout - throw in some extra scrutiny down the line with some preseason misbehaviour in NZ although not alone (by quite a bit) in that, still raised the profile of the bad press

Beau was okay, and like you say, had other value.
Anyone who doesn't like his off-field work it isn't that hard to avoid - I guess if you were a massive Amazing Race fan but hated him you've got a bit of an issue

Didn’t he come across in a package with Heighno… or was it with Gibbs?

If he came with Heighno I reckon you just consider him a free set of steak knives.

Tigers needed to offload Gibbs (2012) so we fleeced them by getting them to throw in the young Tongan/Indigenous kid too

Ryan and Hyno came together (2013).

Era of the Tiger Sharks

Both deals worked out fine for us come 2016

Gibbs didn't set the world alight with his shower shenanigans either
