I must have missed those stats. Where'd you post them? I definitely agree you don't have to copy other teams.
You responded though haha https://sharksforever.com/index.php?threads/nicho-hynes.202562/post-1334884

Moylan did cover a lot of ground. More than our fullback... I wonder...I'm just saying clearly Moylan isn't just sitting on his edge doing nothing, he actually covered more ground in the game, which surprised me.
Obviously the conversation seems to be more should our 6 be taking more kicks and/or running the show more.
Last game Moylan ran more, only made one less pass but obviously our primary kicker did most of our kicking.
There is also the element of people who think we should give Hynes a partner who will take some of the responsibility he wants off of him. Personally I am happy to let him have it if he wants it and is giving a near Dally M level performance in the jersey.
Obviously not surprising they all are from the game that went longer, just clarifying in case anyone wondered.

I'm either crazy, or my last post in that was today and not in reference to the stats. Anyway..You responded though haha https://sharksforever.com/index.php?threads/nicho-hynes.202562/post-1334884
Chad and Nicho are very similar in that their kicking game is extremely one dimensional.I'd probably say the same thing about Chad as is said about Hynes, some additional time to kick would help improve the kicking game. Whether this is by building a penrith wall or having another kicking option to slow down the defence, I don't know.
In short, Hynes is not as good a kicker as most of those guys, so probably needs something different to them.
My bad, think I missed change of commenter from my convo with milk!I'm either crazy, or my last post in that was today and not in reference to the stats. Anyway..
Of that top 8 list, you'd say Reynolds, Moses, Cleary, DCE and Hunt probably have the best kicking games in the league, they all get heaps of attention from defenders but they are class anyway. Burton is getting there and also has played beside a bunch of different halves (I can't say i've watched dogs games that closely but I wonder if it's more shared when Flanno came in). Chad is also up there but I don't think the cowboys kicking game is that great either. I'd probably say the same thing about Chad as is said about Hynes, some additional time to kick would help improve the kicking game. Whether this is by building a penrith wall or having another kicking option to slow down the defence, I don't know.
Other than Burton who everyone knows is a freak Hynes also has way less practice kicking in NRL than these other guys.In short, Hynes is not as good a kicker as most of those guys, so probably needs something different to them.
Yeah agree with most of that. I'm definitely not writing his partnership with Moylan off. I also agree that unless the replacement for him is a net positive then its pretty moot.My bad, think I missed change of commenter from my convo with milk!
I'd love Hynes to just be a better kicker but as our primary kicker how many kicks do we need to send off to the 5/8 to ensure nobody rushes up on Hynes? 10%? 20%? doesn't seem like enough to throw them off.
40%? That'd surely have the defence thinking twice about who to shoot out at. Do we want to run 40% of kicks through our worse kicker though just to buy Hynes an extra moment on the 60% of kicks he does take?
My thoughts are probably not.
So is the solution then instead of the half who partners really well with Hynes in other areas and Hynes says he really enjoys playing with we get a 5/8 who is as good or better kicker than Hynes so that Hynes doesn't have to kick as much, or so that spreading the load doesn't decrease quality... but we have likely (unless we sign a DCE, Cleary, Moses etc) decreased the partnership in other areas.
I don't want a worse halves partnership just so Hynes can take a couple less kicks.
Subjectively some think Trindall is a better option than Moylan anyway but Fitz seems to disagree.
To me it would make more sense to keep working on it from a coaching side to set up blockers and enhance quality of both Hynes and Moylans kicking.
Other than Burton who everyone knows is a freak Hynes also has way less practice kicking in NRL than these other guys.
I think (and hope) it is something that can improve with time, and that we will be better for improving it internally than trying to change the roster to improve kicks if it is at the expense of other areas.
When I say I want him to not kick as much it’s also a lot about not having to worry about being tackled with the ball on the 5th became he has to also get a kick off.But the difference there is basically just kicks isn't it?
Runs + passes + kicks
Moylan 9 + 39 + 1 = 49
Hynes 7 + 40 + 24 = 71
Not sure why those numbers don't quite line up but I assume that is the basis of them (I guess you can run and pass?, or run and kick? Errors is another result that can come from possessions).
If correct Moylan had the ball basically the same amount of times as Hynes did except on last.
Now the fact Moylan apparently had one kick for 9m is pretty shocking but obviously something the team is fine with.
Hynes can be forgiven because he's relatively new to HB
I like him mate, he has things to work on though. So you're besties now?
It's the speaking in the third person that worries meSo you're besties now?
I hope they aren’t still as bitter as me… Probably won’t get over it unless we make the GF lolWonder how the players have handled the loss?
Need to get over it but easiest said then done. I just can’t believe we let them score with 15 seconds left. **** give away a penalty/six again anything to slow it.
Still pissed really
Clearly doesn't rate the sharks. I really do hope we smash the bunnies, even if it is just to make Gould eat his words.
18:00, that’s exactly what I said
The importance of having game management skills is directly proportionate to how much you like the players hair.So I’m not reading through 58 pages to check if it has been mentioned, but…
this game which was in the Sharks hands at 30-22, and was turned by an off-the-cuff kick from a bloke who apparently has a bad kicking game and no trick-bag… then won by good management from the same bloke, which apparently is an in important skill.
He'd love the Sharks if he could sit on a panel show with Ennis instead of GalClearly doesn't rate the sharks. I really do hope we smash the bunnies, even if it is just to make Gould eat his words.
