It sounds like you had plenty of time to say goodbye. I had fifteen months with my mum many years ago in which she went from diagnosis to death. I needed that time to say goodbye. I understand why you loved every minute.I thought I'd like to share a simple message with all my fellow Sharks fans. My father passed away during last week, it wasn't expected and to be honest I am at a complete loss as I am sure other members on this forum have experienced the feelings that come with bereavement. He lost his legs 5 years ago, and I was his full time carer ever since. Every night I slept on his bedroom floor so he wouldn't get lonely. Everything you could possibly imagine that had to be for his care, I did many times. The strange thing is, I loved every minute of it.
The one message I am trying to portray in this post is that no matter no many wooden spoons we win as a club, no matter how many games we lose, this is just a game. Nothing is more important than those we love, I know this is a cliche but please, every chance you get remind those you care about just how much they mean to you, because as I have found out, you may not get another chance.
There's nothing I wouldn't give to go back and have one last conversation with him, and I'm hoping in the future I will get that chance.
So please, as disappointing as this football season has been, please, please put it into perspective.
God bless you all.
By the sounds of it there may be some very tough times ahead for you. More than ten years later there is still a big hole in my life and it isn't necessarily true that time heals all wounds.
If you get depressed go and see a psych ASAP. I hope the rest of your life is together and you can push on strongly. He will be wherever you go though his genes.
