who. gives. a. ****.

First time we've had ultra professional management and no co-incidence we finally win a premiership. There are very few sports administrators who have the track record he has. He is a far bigger loss than any player.

No player is in charge of a $400 million dollar development that is the key to our long term viability. If the next CEO isn't capable of managing that well we've blown a one off chance.

Hopefully he will be replaced by quality but based on what our club has done in the past that is questionable.

the board were in charge of the development for 18 months before lyall turned up

stop being a baby

True and it's part of corporate life that CEOS move on. However based on our track record I don't have enormous faith in the club to appoint the right person to replace him.

The Leagues club building is dilapidated but if they rebuild it they suddenly have a huge customer base on their doorstep, I just don't have a lot of confidence in the club to get the Leagues club redevelopment right and that's what will be the source of our income in the future. We need a CEO who can manage that well.

Lyall, to me, seems like the type of guy you want running things when the **** hits the fan.

I'm hoping that his departure to Manly means that our cooling systems are now free from refuse and that Manly fans are about to experience code brown.

The reason he is going is what matters.

If he seriously thinks his job is done because we are now 100% fixed, that is good. I am still worried about the carpetbaggers coming in.

If he is leaving for any other reason it is a big concern.

We've taken seemingly significant strides forward under the bloke. Is there a negative side that I'm not seeing?

A few times he has over ruled flanno about the roster, flash in particular. I dont like that. Coach and football staff should have the call on that

It surprises me that the CEO would be managing the development, especially with no known construction industry experience. Having worked in construction for over a decade, I know how tough it can be, and the management of this development wouldn't be a part time position. There must be someone project managing the development that would be reporting to Lyall, but as for the day-to-day running of the site I imagine he had little to nothing at all to do with it.

This being the case, Lyall leaving shouldn't have much of an impact on the development at all. Whoever is managing the project would just have someone else to report to.

I'm sure he's not running the development from a construction and sales point of view but he was in charge of looking after the club's interests when dealing with the developer. It worries me the club will get the raw end of the deal when it comes to working with the developer.

The Cronulla Sharks confirm that Mr Lyall Gorman has advised the Board that he is moving on from his position as Group Chief Executive Officer.

The announcement was confirmed today by Club Chairman Mr Dino Mezzatesta.

“The Club wishes Lyall well in his future endeavours and thanks him for his service and the outstanding contribution he has made to our business over the past three years.

“As Lyall said upon arrival at the Sharks and as was also included in his departure announcement to staff, ‘If you think that our future is all about me we are in deep trouble, but together we can and will create something very special’.

“Lyall played a big part in our premiership success of 2016 and leaves the Sharks in an extremely healthy position both on and off the field and we are confident we can build on the work he has done and make our Club even bigger, better and more successful going forward,” Mr Mezzatesta said.

Mr Gorman has fully committed to the Chairman, the Board of Directors and senior management his ongoing support over the coming weeks and months as the Club transitions into a new business model.

Mr Paul Eriksson, current Chief Financial Officer at the Sharks, will assume the role of Interim CEO.

Lyal obviously did a good job, but the premiership comes down to the salary cap as far as I can see. Every club should have a realistic chance at a premiership every four years or there abouts. Flanagan and the football staff put together the perfect side under the cap and deserve the lions share of the credit IMO. Gorman's role was to ensure the club doesn't go broke. He came in on an upswing and jagged a premiership. Now there isn't probably going to be another real premiership crack for a couple of years he is off.

Exactly right. How did we win the premiership? We stacked our side with talent and none on ridiculous money. Thats the football systems doing. Flanno n co knew what they wanted, we had the luckiest year with fitness too.

Yeah I guess premierships just happen when players score more tries than the opposition enough times.
