get rid of brown..hes crap

You're kidding, right? He had a great season when shifted to fullback last year, each game he showed plenty of improvement and in my opinion deserves to start this season in the number one jersey as well...

I like Pom3's side but is there a goal-kicker in there? Please don't say Noddy. I would have Cov straight in for Simmons as soon as the former is fit. Simmons needs to have a real go this year - he was consistently tentative when returning kicks last year and consequently falied to achieve as many metres as possible. I'm surprised Reece Williams is being overlooked by some and reckon he will continue to improve especially in attack. League Week having Sua in there really makes me question their credibility; he was an emergency stop-gap solution last year and I don't see that changing in 08. Would love to see Green and Filiga get some early game time and it will be interesting to see how Sticky proceeds with these and other new signings. As always, I am absolutely champing at the bit for the new season to get underway. Goooooo Sharks.

i agree, williams is not to be overlooked
sua has the size but thats about it, def not in top17 unless hes done a world of work
green has already been eased into 1st grade by parra ready for us to chuck him straight in
filiga however will need to be eased in a bit more gently, all sources say expect to see him before round 10

When I first saw that list, I thought they'd just copy and pasted from a team sheet from the end of last season, and stuck Filiga in 13.

they probably did

seymour will be the goal kicker round 1

it cant be noddy, he can just make the distance from the sideline

and as for getting rid of mitch brown...no way, hes a great young talent, with a big future

considering simmons is soft..yes i would pick goodwin or maori over him..i want someone who isnt affraid to get hurt..and run the ball back

and yes pom i have seen maori play and i was very impressed..you could also put in travis robinson as a possible replacement for covell onto that wing

1. Kearney
2. Brown
3. Pomeroy
4. Simmons/ Filiga
5. Goodwin/Stapelton/Simmons
6. Green
7.Kimmorley
8. Ross
9 De Gois
10. Douglas
11. Gallen
12. Williams
13. Bird
14. Seymour
15. Snowden
16. Selmes
17. Filiga/Stephenson

My team is based on what injuries I know of and form etc. Some positions are based if one is there then the other would go elsewhere like Filiga for example.

They are pretty impressed with Goodwin from what I hear, he is not as quick as say Steplton,Brown or Simmons (not as slow as Covell though) but he has a lot of smarts and agility.

Since you asked my opinion :)D), here is my provisional team for round one, for what it's worth:

1. Brown
2. Goodwin
3. Pomeroy
4. Anderson
5. Simmons
6. Seymour
7. Kimmorley
8. Ross
9. De Gois
10. Douglas
11. Gallen
12. Williams
13. Bird

14. Kearney
15. Cooper
16. Snowden
17. Selmes

This assumes that Anderson will have recovered from his broken thumb, that Thommo will not be fully fit for the start of the season, and also (obviously) that Covell is out. Also that Cooper will have recovered from his ankle injury sufficiently to take his place on the interchange bench. A lot of assumptions then, although I guess that is inevitable at this stage of the pre-season!

I have not named either of our prominent new signings Green or Filiga, as I would like to assess their trial form before I would include either one. Both are still young and inexperienced at this level, but I have no doubt that they will become very good players for us and will feature prominently in first grade this season. I believe that Seymour deserves to start at five-eighth given his great form towards the end of last season, and I would play Kearney off the bench as an impact utility able to cover the 1,6,7 and 9 positions.
