It seems every season there is some new refereing controversy, crack down ect around rule interpretations or the like.
Incorrect rulings on forward passings have really got me this year and seem to stand out above other of the other many rubbish calls or flavours of the month. I think this is an area of the game they should be getting correct more consistantly.
I almost wish they would let the line ball or flat ones go in benefit to the attacking team. It shoud balance out in the course of the game and often it is nit picking and has no effect on things but when it leads to a break that pass often comes under scrutiny and gets called up as forward.
In-fact I don't think the ref gets it wrong that often but it's the touchies who are apparantly "in-line" with the players that make a dodgy call. But game after game obvious forward passes (usually on hit ups) get let go.
Is the "out of the hands" intepretation too subjective and difficult to call on?What would you change in the rules to make it fairer and better for the game. Or is it simply that officials havn't made that appoitment at OPSM?
I'm not just bitter about the Manly game, it's in alot of games this year Sharks and non Sharks alike.
Someone mentioned that Union is more leniant... not suggesting we replicate them.
