I reckon the NSW Cup & Qld Cup should be U/21s competitions and as others have said have the final game of the season being a showdown on Grand Final day of NSW v QLD.

Both NRL Clubs and other regional Clubs can enter that competition but maybe could operate in a promotion / relegation way that the Association Football does it in Europe.

All NRL Clubs to have their own all-age Reserve Grade which is played before NRL Games.

And don't have it finishing an hour before first grade kick off.

This is happening next year

Glad to hear that.

I think the NSW Cup could work reasonably well as an Under 21's comp, but I'm not sure about the Queenslanders. It would weaken their competition considerably, which they would hate. I do think the NRL needs a normal reserve grade competition.

TRAINERS:

NSW Cup:

If scores are equal at the conclusion of normal time in any Final Series match, then in such matches, including the Grand Final, a period of extra time will follow whereby the first scorer of any point or points (eg field goal, a penalty goal or try) will immediately be declared the winner. If a try is scored in extra time the conversion kick will not be permitted.

The commencement of the period of extra time will be determined by the toss of a coin as described under the Laws of the Game. If no point or points have been scored after a further period of five (5) minutes, the referee will cease play and teams will immediately change ends. The team that did not kick-off to commence the initial period of extra time will kick-off to recommence the second period. Play shall then continue on an unlimited basis until the first point or points have been scored to determine the
winner of the match.

Only the three team trainers and competing players will have access to the field of play. The normal interchange process will apply for any interchanges that are to be made during any break (including the additional 2 interchanges in extra time).

Golden point is such a bad way to decide a premiership.

I thought there were 2 x 5 minutes halves which were played out in full regardless of who scored first? If scores are level afterwards it then reverts to golden point? Is it the same for first grade?

I agree with you, it's a **** way to decide.

that changed when golden point was introduced.

5 minutes in the first period, and if no scorer, you play until there is a result

Actually, it might be a good year for the horror golden point scenario to finally play out. Something really messy. It needs to actually happen at some point so that the NRL wake up and change it. At least if it happens this year it won't effect a good team. (First grade I'm talking about)

I Wouldn't mind seeing the Channel 9 Roosters being duded by it. It is "for TV" after all.

Is 'duded' the opposite to being 'chicked?'
