I thought you can either plead guilty and contest the grading, or plead not guilty and contest the charge? If Dale had these options, contesting the grading and getting it down to the 1 week would have been a good outcome.
Next question... are we going to see every head clash penalised now? If a bad one is worth a grade 2 charge, shouldn't every single head clash be penalised?
I thought so too but I guess maybe panel can determine guilt but also determine they felt charge was wrong? There determination rather than request from us?I thought you can either plead guilty and contest the grading, or plead not guilty and contest the charge?
And there's no consistency in a ref's game from the 5th minute to the 75th minute, there's no chance of consistency at the judiciary level.
I think it'll still be based on the way the contact was initiated. They're looking to stamp out the 'reckless' kamakazi defensive plays that result in accidental head clashes or HIA's (I reckon he'd probably have been charged if Crichton had bashed his head on the ground and had to leave the field).I don't know about the NRL, but I recently had to read the QRL Judiciary document start to finish. For QRL it is possible to contest the grading AND get a discount for an early plea.

For my player it was a choice between...
Plead not guilty = 0 weeks or 3 weeks
Contest grading + early plea = 1 week or 3 weeks
Early plea = 2 weeks
Took the early plea.

And according to the MRC running quickly is three times more dangerous a thing to do in Rugba Leeeg than intentionally raising a forearm into someone's head when you run at themSo according to an NRL counsel - sprinting out of the line quickly or at pace is reckless and careless conduct and puts the ball carrier in danger.
Does this bloke even know what Rugba Leeeg is ??
Obviously our lack of line speed under Morris/Hannay was just a considerate safety measure to protect opposition players from injury
Prety much sums it up.So according to an NRL counsel - sprinting out of the line quickly or at pace is reckless and careless conduct and puts the ball carrier in danger.

Surprised he didn't recommend bringing back the 5mSo according to an NRL counsel - sprinting out of the line quickly or at pace is reckless and careless conduct and puts the ball carrier in danger.

I think Klein had enough to worry aboutIf the ref and the bunker got it so wrong and it is such a serious offense that attracts a 2 game ban, shouldn’t we ask a question or two to the ref and the bunker? Maybe they should have given statements last night too.
Maybe they need to be resting and taken to some seminars for a while.

If Dale ws standing in the defensive line and the same thing had happened I don't think anyone would be talking about it.
There's club, international and Origin rules... Oh, and magic round rules. That's the way they want it.Yet we celebrated Origin 3 like we are the toughest game in the world.
If that happens this week players will get suspended.
And Penrith rulesThere's club, international and Origin rules... Oh, and magic round rules. That's the way they want it.
Specifically you are allowed to shoulder charge but accidental head knocks are chargeableAnd Penrith rules
“HIA interchange for Kikau” at the 25-30 min mark of each half not counted towards your overall interchangesSpecifically you are allowed to shoulder charge but accidental head knocks are chargeable
It's beyond a joke now, the game is fast becoming Oztag. I struggle to watch any games now.I don't know about the NRL, but I recently had to read the QRL Judiciary document start to finish. For QRL it is possible to contest the grading AND get a discount for an early plea.

See you SaturdayIt's beyond a joke now, the game is fast becoming Oztag. I struggle to watch any games now.
You can't play tough, hard, unforgiving football anymore. The "new" rules and officiating is against the spirit of Rugby League - I'm done.
Nice knowing some of you blokes.

I'll listen tomorrowIf anyone's interested in Gus' views of Dale's suspension on Six Tackles with Gus. It starts around the 16th minute.
Don't agree with everything Gus says but the NRL would be in a better spot if he was running the MRCIf anyone's interested in Gus' views of Dale's suspension on Six Tackles with Gus. It starts around the 16th minute.
