THE rebel ticket seeking to assume control of Cronulla has accused of the current board of snubbing the district's junior league.
Former Australian Olympic basketballer Damian Keogh, who is heading up the Sharks Unity bid, has penned an open letter to members revealing that no current directors attended last week's season launch for the Cronulla junior league, which is also celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Keogh was scathing in his appraisal of the current board, highlighting the fact their stewardship has coincided with the ASADA crisis, an NRL salary cap investigation, no major sponsor and lawsuits from two sacked coaching staff, as well as former sponsor E Security.
The group has also printed 50,000 newsletters - dubbed The Daily Shark - to distribute throughout the Sutherland Shire in the lead-up to next week's poll.
Club great Jason Stevens and former boss Peter Gow have both thrown his weight behind the rebels in the newsletter, calling for members to vote for change.
"As a former Cronulla player, I know competent leadership off the field translates to success on the field," Stevens wrote. "I have no doubt that 'Unity' will provide direction that this club has never seen before and help deliver what every fan wants - a premiership."
Only four members of the current board have joined forces on a single ticket, known as Sharks Vision.
Chairman Glenn Coleman - who will be re-appointed unopposed - is leading the group and this week issued a statement to members explaining the board's decision to sack staff after ASADA launched its probe.
Former chairman Damian Irvine - who resigned last month - is also among the 23 candidates, but will run as an independent along with former players Mark McGaw and Dane Sorenson.
