The really good thing about Ava last year was that he was playing his 20-25 minutes and you almost never noticed him. No storming runs or standout plays but he got through his minutes contributing with some good work rate while also conceding no penalties, no dropped balls, and no glaring misses. That’s what you need from a bloke playing 20 off the bench.
The fact that Uele had one bad miss and one dropped ball in his short stint means for mine he didn’t do his job and his coach wouldn’t be happy with him. I don’t need to look at the stats.
Not specifically. I'd be happy either way for our 20 minute prop to be an efficient grinder or someone who comes in and might make a mistake but makes an impact, as long as the net value either way is positive to us.
I think there is probably more expectation on Uele to make an impact than Ava but we will see how he develops over time.
Ava had played 100 games before he came to us and Uele is now on 3 - this certainly doesn't mean you can't compare them, but is a relevant factor when judging Uele.
I can forgive a third gamer for a dropped ball (we are worst in the comp as a team aren't we?) and a missed tackle on Latrell.
I don't think J Mo would have been
overly disappointed with Uele's effort for that game however he will need to improve on that if he wants to be in our side once players start coming back from injury.
