Would be interesting to know if they would have done anything if Cordner decided to play on.
Probably hard for NRL to overrule a specialist clearing him to play.
Fantastic news. Really glad for him and his fam. That was genuinely scary stuff.
As to if he'll play again...Just can't see him getting back into a condition for first grade regardless... Any mention of recovery times? I'd expect months before he could resume training, and the big bloke is going to be on an ice cream and jelly diet for a while.
But the big question is around the cash. Well just have to wait and see
Haven’t seen any mention of recovery time, the major immediate issue was swelling which has been addressed. Bone should heal pretty quick but cartilage damage more of an issue.
Eisenhuth did his at storm in 2019 round 1 and next played round 18 so in theory could probably do quite a bit of pre Xmas just no contact and then be fully available post Xmas.
You’d think being at back end of career significantly increases the likelihood of not playing on, and potentially also young daughter a factor too with this brush with death.
Medical retirement would probably the best outcome, money for him and at least goes out through injury and active in the NRL and frees up our cap space.
I guess best possible result is potential end of NRL career inspires him to level up his efforts and get back to the Fifita of old but we’re probably more likely to be 2021 premiers than see that unfortunately.
