Most Christians don't have an issue with alcohol it is not prohibited to drink. But you are not supposed to get drunk. Gambling I don't think you are supposed do but even with that it is similar to drinking. Bet on cup day don't loose your house type of thing. It does sound like there's plenty of scope within their religion to at least co-exist with aspects of life that are not in line with their faith, such as gambling and alchohol. Being selective about which ones you're okay with and not is discriminatory. It's impossible to find a way around that in any efforts to be understanding and inclusive of their religious beliefs.
Having said that, I think if it were handled better and in a more respectful way of the starting point for their feelings about the issue we would have seen a different result. Like the Women's round being allowed to be its own round... one of these guys may even have brought it up!
Personally I hate all the gambling ads. Does my head in and I think adds a lot of potential corruption into the game.
