I thought the ref was okay. Couple tackles (by storm players) early I would have called 6 again (though Welch did a really bad one, although though Welch HIA smelled a bit of free interchange), couple early high contacts (both ways) that were pretty minimal I didn't mind being let go, especially as both ways.
The May kick for first penalty try and the Yeo kick try were both interesting.
Penalty try technically correct but May's leg action very much not what they were trying to stamp out with that rule, it was clean and fair, but against the rules.
The Yeo one by the letter of the law was no try, but again was not the kind of obstruction that rule enforcement is there to prevent (because nobody was particularly adversely affected) but was incorrectly awarded as a try.
Re Tamou saying ref made a pathetic decision or whatever (didn't specifically hear that myself) I guess I do think there is a difference between saying you don't agree with a decision vs implying ref is intentionally making incorrect decisions to favour one team.
It's 100% Panthers own fault they lost that game. Probably also Storms own tactic and play styles fault they nearly let Penrith back in.
One ref decision I was a bit confused by but don't remember exact names involved - Storm player offloads and hit Penrith player, second Penrith player picks it up from in front of the first one who was hit and is penalised for offside. How did it come forward off Penrith player legally but so his teammate could be offside? Offload into his foot? And Storm player offloaded into Penrith player who it came forward off and neither of them knocked on?
Brandon Smith offloaded it into the torso or thigh of a Panthers player tackling him (no knock on), Penrith player was them deemed offside due to being in front of the player it contacted. Because he picked it up on purpose its not an accidental offside its deliberate. Penalty call correct
