I heard someone on the radio say Wade was back next year. Anyone see anything official? I still can't see it happening
Why does it need to be announced he's back next year? He's still contracted so if anything it would be an announcement that he wasn't playing on.

He was contracted for all of this year too, but had to finish the season early. And the contract won't make much difference if it's deemed he has to medically retire... would be nice to hear an official statement that his hiatus isn't permanent is all.

He’s on record as saying that retirement has not been a consideration and that the concussions have been a technique issue that he intends to sort out .

Granted if he has a couple more there will definitely be a decision for him to make …

Blix is right, Mcinness will play more hooker than Lock imho. The guitarist to lock, big bopper from outside into the front row, Brailey bench/utility/hooker relief depending on opposition.

I think you're over analysing it a bit mate - as far as most are concerned I reckon, he's contracted to next year and we expect him to play in 2022 unless they announce otherwise. :)

Brailey as a utility? I don't see him covering many positions.

Just a feeling mate. Looking at how often and far between each concussion... and the eye test... he said he's got a technique problem but it looked like more than that, he really struggled with his reaction speed to get into a good position to tackle, and has for a while. Could be wrong, I hope I am, and maybe a decent break will sort that out, but I can't shake the feeling it won't and I'd rather not see him gamble away the rest of his life. Dude's a straight up Sharks legend.

I still think Blayke will play 50+ per game at hooker but another big name prop would definitely make me more open to the 9 McInnes 13 Finucane method

I don't think there's any doubt he'll play again, how long he plays for though is anyone's guess.

Another knock or two in reasonably quick succession and I agree, he's probably done at that point.

Risking a lot for another year or two of footy when it could affect the next 50 years of your life.

I just don't see where else he can play unless he's going to the bench for the remaining 30.

Yeah I don't have him playing any other positions. Starts off for McInnes or otherwise maybe comes off for a bit middle of second half to stack some extra size into the lineup with a view to getting him back on for last 10.
Tracey, Moylan, Trindall and even Metcalf I think make better 'utilities'

Yep, reckon you're both on the money. Cam and Blayke can both play 80 mins too. And you can't see us giving up a utility spot on the bench in today's game, especially if Moyza starts. That spot has to go to Trindall or Metcalf (assuming Tracey is centre).

I could maybe even see Blayke starting at 9, Cam at 13. Then Blayke off for Trindall and Cam moving into hooker with Trindall at 13. Seemed to work okay and accommodates Moylan starting with some halves/lock cover off the bench. There's probably enough utility value in the squad to cover other positions in case of HIA's, etc

You guys are making this harder than it needs to be.

Hooker and lock is 160 minutes.

3 blokes (Brailey, McInnes, Finucane) play 50-55 minutes each, but more if needed. One has to start on the bench though.

If you want to give them more, Finucane plays some minutes at prop.

That would look like the Melbourne rotation with Harry Grant and Nico Hynes.

We could have Brailey and Metcalf…..and 2 props…hhhmmm

Agreed.

He's said he's playing next year, many many time so not sure why people think he'll suddenly medically retire. Nothing is going to happen between now and Rd 1 for him to re think it. He's said he's not going contact work till next year.

Its a completely different story if he starts getting a few head knocks next year.
