Yet. Let's do it!

Though, when Kennedy is at his best, he is a very good fullback (in my opinion). Just need him to do it all year
I have no issue with Kennedy. His defensive positioning and support play kill me and that’s what holds him back.
But as someone said, if you’re looking to upgrade the squad. He’s where you do it

Kennedy’s been one of our best this year. Talk of replacing him in his current form is unwarranted and quite frankly unfair.. Only thing i’ll agree with is that he started last season well as well then his attacking output fell away a little bit, if he doesn’t do that this year then I see absolutely no reason why he needs to be replaced.

We can win a premiership with Will Kennedy at fullback, laugh all you want, but it is absolutely possible.

Not saying its happening on here but it does feel like some of his critics in the fanbase are more desperate to be right about him rather than admit he’s playing well. To me that’s egotistical and unfair. Those people need to get their heads out of their own selfish arses.

I completely agree that a team can win a comp with Kennedy at fullback. Do you think that this team has enough to do it, though? I don't. If Tricky/Nicho were off contract and Will had a few more years I'd be happy to look towards a halves upgrade instead. It's just not the case.

I think that's up there with you can't win if you have lost by 50 in a season.

Every team has so many dynamics, and it takes so much to win a comp - plus some luck with injuries.

A lot of teams with world class fullbacks dont win a premership each year.

Whats more important is making top 4 , then your whole team playing at a 8.5 out of 10 over a month of footy.
I'm keeping up the position that Dylan Edwards isn't a world class fullback (you may counter that by saying he's played for Australia, but I don't think he does without Cleary).

Two straight Prelim finals, knocked out by a historically dominant Penrith and a top tier in their finals element, playing at home Melbourne team. The fact that we’ve been that close to a Grand Final suggests we’re been closer than about 14-15 other teams.

As for this year? I don’t think our issue is our spine, they’ve been among our best players just about every week, maybe Hynes is the only one who needs a bit more consistency, but even he’s shown a lot of silky stuff at a lot of points this season, particularly his passing game.

We need a bit more mobility in our pack to adjust to the new rules. Hopefully we find some internal solutions to those problems, or an adjustment to the game-plan, thats all we can hope for really. We also need our key outside backs back from injury.

If the rules stayed the same as last year I think we have a really strong chance of winning it, until Penrith took losing last year personally and decided to destroy the comp

Yeah the Penrith thing did occur to me as well. We might have to adjust our expectations and hopes on this season at least. Everyone is only really playing for the runners up title. No matter how well we play or who our fullback is, we’re not getting near Penrith.

I was convinced of the same thing a little while ago. My position on that opinion has softened a bit. They are still the team to beat, but don’t look as untouchable as earlier in the year.

If Kennedy had started with Penrith and Edwards with us, Edwards wouldn't have played rep and we'd still be talking about upgrading the position, IMO

Edwards is bigger, and has a better defensive and attacking work rate, but Kennedy is a slightly better ball player. Edwards also paid more.
He is a better fullback than Kennedy, but I agree he is also elevated a lot by the Penrith system.

Give Kennedy perhaps the best ever halfback and winger, plus a lock worthy of being in the convo (at an NRL level if not rep), and he looks a lot better than he does with us, I have no doubt.

Struggling to disagree, but I'll find a way.

He gets called out for a lot of things which don't appear to me to be his fault, or at least, especially relevant. The chat about him stopping the scrum try for example. Hynes is the same - anything goes wrong he is near usually someone chops together a reason it was all on him.
Neither perfect or never had a bad game, of course.

Kennedy also keeps getting a finger pointed at him for not being in as good a form while we were losing for a stretch last season.
Maybe I'm getting old but I certainly don't recall it as everyone else was playing great and he was holding us back. The side as a whole went through a down patch and while he wasn't our only shining light or something, everyone else not playing great hardly does him any favours.

We absolutely are better than most teams if we play our best. But in both those prelims, we were outclassed by a higher caliber of player we gave just about everything we had. No amount of good team play from our side is going to be able to handle that, unless we just get lucky. I'd prefer we didn't rely on luck.

I'd include Tricky into the inconsistent bracket. He's been downright bad for games.

I feel like the bold is where we are sitting at the moment. We're on a hope and a prayer that we might adjust and may find the mythical extra level we've been searching for since 22. I think the period of waiting for that is over, and we need to try and force the issue to strike with this squad.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still hoping and praying, I'm just much less confident this squad can do something special than I was in preseason.

I'm definitely not attached to it needing to be Kennedy btw, we just need a chance somewhere to spark a genuine premiership run.
