Word is that Best is around that money. I'd be okay with that signing.
Also continues the fine tradition of Best's at centre for us

I think it would be crazy for us to spend money on a centre when we Iro (I'm far from writing him off) and MG coming in soon.

I'm sure MG's looking good, but better than Best? The 25 year old Australian test centre? If he were 30, sure. But you'd have at least 6 years of absolute top-shelf quality from the guy.

I do think you'd be crazy not to sign someone of Best's quality if you could. Especially if you have Will on $500k.

Clearly not better than Best but you sometimes have to have a bit of faith in a young prospect. I think we have other areas that warrant that kind of cap spend ahead of centre, just my opinion.

I suppose it depends if we keep Ramien / Katoa. If we don't, we will be short on depth in outside backs.

Apart from Gabriel, most of our potential future players are prob 2 years away. Even Gabriel is probably a year away from really cementing a spot.

Tough to get better than Best, for sure!

Where you do you think the biggest need is for us? Depends a lot on how the squad looks after this year I suppose, which feels like a huge 'who knows'.
But... if we keep our spine, Ronnie, AFB, KL, Wilton, Nikora, JC (we should probably expand 'spine' to include the lock these days) we're actually in a reasonable place to pad out the rest of the team with value players and one more gun.

As well as Will is playing I'd still love an upgrade there, we've seen this kind of form from him before without it lasting.

Easier said than done, I know.

I'd be happy with Best for sure, but if I'm being honest I'm not sure he's a difference maker in either of our prelims. I think we need to find a way to spend big somewhere. Someone like Herbie would be perfect, because you could try him out at fullback if you wanted, but if that didn't work you'd still get big money value out of him at centre. It would mean you could hedge your bets between one of Ison/Gabrael kicking on too.

One more winger with some NRL experience to be first drop would be nice (plus re-sign Jones).

New Guy, Jones, Williams, PLS is great depth.

He's always been good but my goodness he's gone to another level this year. Unbelievable how well he's playing.

Could tack him on the end of the list but he's a long shot.

I like Dixon but imo Williams will be ahead of him by the start of next season and PLS will be ahead of him by the end of it. Jones is already ahead of him.

He could handle a game or two in a pinch though. He definitely has the yardage game down and would be picked over those young guys this season.

Yeah fair. So you'd likely sign a starting cup winger over the top of Dixon? Have PLS and Jones as the centres and Williams on the wing?
