The 28-year-old opted to stay on that occasion with a heavily pregnant wife and limited options elsewhere, but his avenues could potentially open up now with Perth still yet to sign a No.1 for next year.

"I'll do whatever is best for my family. I just had a newborn, so it was only right for me to stay that one more year here," Kennedy said after Sunday's win.

"I want to keep playing footy. If I stay here, happy days. I love this club. But if I have to do what's best for my family then I have to do it."

The fullback finished Sunday with nine tackle busts to go with his two tries, and also put Sione Katoa into space late.

"I've still got more in me," Kennedy said.

"Every player has more in them and I think I have more levels to myself, I just want to keep playing footy and winning more games."

You won’t find a bigger Kennedy fan than me on here and I am absolutely delighted that my faith is being justified. But we need to keep in mind he started last season similarly well, he was top of the Dally M count. In the second half of the season even I’ll admit he fell away a bit as far as his attack output went. I want to see him doing this at the back end of the season as well.
If he's still killing it in 3 months time then we will have missed out on him.

Can't believe Perth hasn't snatched him up!

Man what a start to the season, more of this please Will.

Good call those saying he did the same thing last season, need this to continue.

Will started last season on fire and was up there in the Dally Ms as many of us would recall

He dropped off from that sort of form as the season went on (although he started to come good again)

I don't know what the reason for that drop off was but I wonder if Fitz could have a chat with him about keeping this going all season and encourage him to find that intensity and performance level week in week out (like say Edwards does for the Panthers)

Seems to have gotten over his shoulder injury concerns and playing less timidly and going harder in contact with and without the ball

Will doesn't necessarily have to be elite or the best FB in the game but we certainly want to see the best version of himself more often than not as it makes a big difference to our team. At his best he is more than just a safe catcher of bombs

Did he get worse last season as a symptom of the side going through a down patch, or did the side go through a down patch in part because Will dropped off?

Who knows, but he wasn’t alone in a spell of reduced form last season

Maybe he’s just a super fit dude who relishes the pre season training and starts the season like being fired out of a rocket.

As the season goes on and the niggles add up, and then the mid week training is restricted, that’s why the form dips.

I put the down patch far more on the team as a unit than a single player in Will Kennedy but your point stands that a team not in form isn't going to make things easier for our fullback

I still think Will dropped off individually though but yea was not alone in that regard

Possibly but he has never started a season as strongly as he did in 2025, although he had battled injury in season prior

For the price he’s on, we should be immediately re-signing him for at least 2 more years.

More expensive options could be available, but that money is probably better spent upgrading other positions of need.

Will’s value for money could be a real asset
