Probably the best under the high ball all year.
I'd like to agree, but he's had a rough patch of form mid-season when he wasn't as safe as he can be.
Which coincided with the team's poor showings for over a month.
Was he injured, did the contract negotiations mess with is head, was it because we didn't have an answer to the other teams' tactics putting him under pressure? I don't know, but something was wrong.
Hopefully we'll get early season form Kennedy for the finals.

You're right. He did have a rough patch. Generally, he’s safe under the high ball. He was pretty good last year as well.

In fairness, you didn't say if it was club-wide or league-wide. ;)

That being said, I agree with you. Fielding kicks (of any sort) is one of his strengths. And I can't think of any over fullback who's done it consistently just as well over the past few seasons.

For some perspective, Tracey is copping it a bit over on the Dogs forum for being unsafe with the ball and not offering enough in attack. Someone even suggested a swap for Kennedy...

Ciraldo is getting stick for crapping on about learnings and being better next week and what not

I've said it before but all the stuff we complain about on here about our team is the exact same stuff every other clubs fan site goes on about

It's not a Sharks thing or unique to us, fans get frustrated with alot of things and players when things don't go well (or even when they do)

Kennedy had a good game

A 1 year extension wouldn't be the worst thing for both parties. Gives us more time to bring through our next FB and it might set up Will for a potential Bears contract.

Fitz is a big fan of his so if he is given more than a 1 year contract extension I'm not going to spit the dummy as he's still a pretty decent player and can be very good on his day. Has alot of passion for the club and his team mates and is a great role model.

If you ever need to feel better just remind yourselves what Newcastle are paying Ponga

I like Connor but man he was terrible on the weekend.

Yep absolutely no issue from me in keeping Will for 1 year. I don't want more than that, though.

All fair points.

We do go a bit over the top. I guess it’s due to the lack of success we have been able to celebrate

maybe if we had won a few more premierships we wouldn’t be as critical of the team.

I like Connor too, I never expected him to be a full time FG fullback but he has made a really good fist of it and I am happy for him. Bloke is all heart and can make some special plays but we aren't always aware or notice some of the drawbacks or bad games as we don't watch every other team every week.

We could bring in another fullback but that player is also going to have bad games and get criticized as well, there is no perfect player for the Sharks or anyone else

If Will could just improve his support play (part of this is coaching/structure) and figure out how to make a cover tackle we would have a fairly well rounded and good value feedback.

All fair points.

Perhaps but more success might have driven even more expectation from the fanbase

I feel like post 2016 Sharks fans have been very frustrated and a bit impatient, we were all hoping to kick on from that GF and become a powerhouse club but it just didn't happen. We didn't fall off a cliff though and become a basket case just had to start a new journey post Flanno

I mentioned it a few months ago where some were claiming Kennedy was the worse fullback in the comp.

Go check out the Cowboys forum to see what they think of Drinkwater.
Check out the Knights forum to see what they think of Hunt/Ponga.
Bulldogs and Storm fans are completely off Tracey and Paps.

Hell, for the first half of the season Broncos fans were thinking Walsh may have been one of the worst investments in the clubs history.

In regards to what we’re paying for what we’re getting, Kennedy is one of the best value fullbacks in the comp. Sure, it’d be great to score ourselves a superstar fullback but it’ll come at the expense of another superstar.

Would anyone be willing to get rid of AFB for a fullback?

I think this is confusing two arguements. It's hard to argue that Will isn't one of the best value fullbacks, as most others are paid signiciantly more. It's pretty easy to argue he's in the bottom 4 in terms of ability. The only fullback I wouldn't take over him in terms of ability is Tracey.

David Fifita is probably close to the best second rower in the game as well on ability, I wouldn't touch him, either.
Dave Taylor should be an immortal in waiting
Ponga has shown plenty of times he can put that whole garbage side on his back and win them games. He's been fantastic in rep games too.

I have no doubt he makes every single side better if replaced 1-1 for their fullback. Value on his current contract is another conversation though.

I don't agree with this, every team?
