I've had a left field idea lately about swapping the 9 and 1 roles up.

Hear me out, have ur 9 (blayke) defending at FB. His defence is bloody beautiful so we know he's going to make good first contact. He'd get a bit of space to ball play possibly when bringing the ball back, then slots back into the dummy half.

Two positives.. Kennedy gets put into the line, makes 40 tackles a game until he is ready to swap back,

And we get to see Brailey with a bit of space. I could even see Brailey running those FB lines well. Blayke would get over his fear of contact pretty quick.

Your hooker has to be the fittest bloke on the team tho if he's going to be chasing after a play the ball, then bringing it back full speed.
You lost me at "I've had"

Great post. And Hazelton should be playing in the halves. He's got the footwork, the passing skills and who in their right man would run at him?
It's time to shake things up I reckon.

I would laugh, but i can't argue with your point. It would help with keeping the play direct. Let's say Hazelton develops a great kicking game over night it happens, would you be keen to rush out of the line to put pressure on him?

If the players know their role and it works, why not?

You and I should sit down, think about the best team for the finals and beyond, and send our (excellent) ideas to Fitz.
At this stage, every bit helps.

There was a primary school teacher who hand picked students for this long term goal. He wanted them to make the Olympics for rowing before year 12 (citation needed.) If I remember correctly, they achieved the goal a lot earlier.

I've had this other idea about keeping the same teacher throughout school, This way the teacher has time to Identify and nurture each student's actual strengths. Instead of one size fits all, the kids have the freedom to do what class they choose, and are actually empowered.

This could be applied to a footy team. Start at u'5s and just stick with them. It would be difficult to make such a long commitment due to jobs etc, but if it was a club initiative you can just employ the families at the club.

Long term planning. This is brilliant! You're nothing short of a genius.
But I see one problem arising already, who would be playing 6, who would be playing 7? I think it should be settled early on to allow the future first graders to really grow into their role.

Nah it’s easy, Blayke
Should be, but lately everyone's playing everywhere.😂
Last year, Blayke was apparently one of the worst hookers in the league, and people criticised Fitz for giving him the Player of the Year award.
Award that Will won in 2021 (SJ in 2020 and Chad in 2019, some heads will explode).
I don't know anything anymore.

Blayke was always acknowledged as a good player but people just wanted him to open up more and play a more senior role in the team and that’s what he did

Maybe, but not exactly how I recall it.
I just took a quick look at Brailey's thread and there are some doozies among the opinions posted last season.
People change I suppose, not a bad thing at all.

Yeah I mean last year he did not get out the weapons like he has the last part of this year which is fair to call out but we’ve always known there is a good player in there… it’s good that he’s finally got it out because he’s got more then a pass and tackle

The criticism of Blayke prior to 2024 was valid, sometimes it went too far and sometimes it was bang on

The level he has been playing at in 2024 only validates what alot of us complained about, that there was a very good player in there that was solid and dependable but holding back alot of the time

It wasn't just about getting more experience and maturity, he showed us many seasons ago in that final against the Raiders what a weapon he can be and the influence he can make on a game

Has evolved from Cabbage -> Kale

But the whole time his coach and team mates thought he was playing great.

There was one particular poster on here that had a vendetta against him and turned most against him.

And I think that it was a game/experiment by the poster to see if he could.

Bloked F*&'d up within 5 seconds last week. Reckon he can do it faster on Friday?🤔🤔🤔
Do we let him kick off?

Blayke was doing the little things and the boring things fantastic last season. Yeah we wanted 'more' and some amount of asking for that was valid - I think we've had more games this season where our forwards have supported him to do more too though.
The extent of the negativity was over the top though, as it tends to be from many who choose the vendetta lifestyle
