I would of went for touch. Get it closer to the line, dribble in a short grubber and hope for a repeat set. That also wastes time and you can control your own destiny with ball in hand close to their line. You might even get another penalty where you can take the 2 then. You would have wasted more time on the clock and had the ball in your hands not letting the opposition even touch it to have a chance at scoring.

I would have kicked for touch then went for the try. In golden point I would have faked the field goal and run in the try. It was very early in the tackle count so why not.

I think faking the field goal isn't done enough.

i think its easy to say sitting on our lounges or behind a keyboard "should of done this should of done that" but in the heat of the battle decisions have to be made.
sometimes they pay of sometimes they don't.

The way i see it it wasted the clock and gave us a four point buffer. We kick for touch, make a mistake, Ryan then still scores missed conversion become irrelevent. They win by at least two.

Or we score and go ahead by 8. It's over now there is no point going on about if we did this and if we did that. But I want the refs hung lol

I was more concerned with the decision to take the 1 point on the 2nd tackle after fifita regained the ball. We should have went for the try, at worst 4th - 5th tackle go for the 1 point. Silly call

Jigsaw has already mentioned he believes that we mainly went for the two points to take out the equation of us only potentially being 2 points up late in the game where you are at the mercy of the ref to screw us w/ a late penalty to tie things up. I just knew we were going to get screwed as this game went on.

they were short both sides of the ruck by memory. Was a slowish play the ball. If it was a quick on the fg was on. Todd should of ran it

I love it how we all know exactly what we would have done had we been in the same position as Gallen and Flanaghan. Maybe it wasn't the right decision and maybe we could have scored a try to ice the game but that was not a foregone conclusion. Usually with the two points on offer you take them.

You have to remember guys, these fellows are playing the best football in the land. Both sides have slogged it out in steamy and horrible conditions. They are all out on their feet and sometimes the field resembled a battlefield with all the cramp that was going on. Your mind gets foggy, thought processes aren't as good as what they might be in the first 20 mins and what looks like an easy decision to us punters in the stands, is not an easy one at all.

I reckon it had something to do with the Thursday night golden point game. Gus Gould kept banging on how in golden point if you get the chance to get the 1 pointer no matter what tackle it is you take that opportunity. Carney was 15 out right in front. He may not have got that opportunity again. He was unlucky it got charged down but thats football. We will win a game some time this year through a bad call by the ref.

I just think at times we are way too conservative. We need to back our own ability to cross the line a little more IMO.

I was skeptical of the decision to take the 2 but was grateful for it after Beau scored and Benji missed the conversion from sideline. The 2 points ending up keeping us in the game until GP. Maybe we would have done something better for our game by taking the tap but we will never know. All we know for fact is that 2 points got as a chance in GP of winning the game. After the game Carney mentioned it wasn't about time wasting but just giving the boys a rest because of cramp ect. Besides since when have we a proven ability to score points of set pieces, taps ect?

Having said all that it was still negative play and I hope we get away from it lol.:D;)

it wasted the cock and put it to 4. kinda crucial given we let em straight in.

we then went and defended terribly and let them in. you have to defend that stuff better. positioning was terrible. infact on most kicks we looked lost at sea.

no garuntees we score when we are down there.

I was thinking about that too, and I agree with gus. Only, on this occaision I don't think we were quite ready to take it. We weren't settled, we were a little bit slow to get the ball to Carney and we didn't protect him well enough. Maybe one more forward would have settled us a bit. In saying that though, the forward might have done a cuthbo.

Load of **** !!! The whole game changes if they find touch and go. Savo and Stormshark give yourselves an uppercut.
Now to the Field Goal attempt from Carney. It was definetily the right play to go for field Goal wen they did, but as soon as Todd was Pressured he had to run and take the tackle. The decision to go early was the 100% the correct one but unfortunatily Todd Made the wrong decision to still try and snap the goal. But saying that we would not of been into Golden point or even close to the Tigers if Todd wasnt there.. Lets just beat the Knights and all is forgotten.

I try not to be immature but the misspelling of 'clock' changes the whole post!!!
