Just wanted to throw this out there and get a gauge of who people are blaming for the origin loss?

I am leaning towards the coach/selectors for picking the halves combination and outside backs.

What does everybody else think??

one try in two games says they lacked something for sure!!!

never get any news down here did gallen cop a spray in the media for those silly penalties or was nothing said??

i'm a huge nsw fan but be fair
folou/slatter and inglis are just awsome especially when the ball is in the air poor quinn copped it all night just awsome atheletes..
was hoping they could draw a comparison to covell on monday to folou's 2nd try!!! covell's was better because he hasn't got as much talent as folou.

i blame gidley, he didn't allow any ball to get to the outside backs or quality ball to anasta cause he kept popping up and taking the runs himself. In one set of 6 he had 3 runs, should have given someone else a crack, even though they were good runs he barely ever passed it. Everyone will probably disagree with me on this but i don't care. I would much rather have seen Monaghan or Cooper trying to work something down the sides over gidley the hog.

and covell had the sideline and corner pole to contend with
but falous one looked to have even less grasp on the ball and still manage it

Well on other sites, everyone seems to be blaming Gallen...BIG time. Calling him the dumbest and worst player there is. I think that's a bit harsh, but then I am a Sharks supporter. I hope I have added this think ok but its on RLeague forums, which I don't contribute to but I read occasionally.

I only watched bits of it...once they picked Anasta I lost interest. It sounds like Gallen was ordinary but to call him the dumbest and worst player there is and ever was IS a bit harsh IMO.

Who cares what those morons think, they would all want Gallen in their side, they are kidding themselves. He did do some dumb stuff but he wasn't the reason we couldn't score any points.
I might be biased but I reckon Kimmorley would have done a heaps better job at halfback and would have led the way with his enthusiasm.
pierce was too young and inexperienced to be put under that much pressure first game out.
Also Anasta is crap, I can't believe they picked him.
Our attack consisted of one out dummy half running or one pass hit-ups. we sucked in attack, it was like watching the Sharks last season :)

I think part of the blame has to go to the halves pairing of Pearce and Anasta, the ball didn't get any wider than 2 passes from the ruck and that would lead to an inside ball. We didn't ask the QLD defence any questions last night. Anasta I thought got caught with the ball to much aswell. The kicking game wasn't great either, they found the back 3 more often than finding open space.

White has nothing IMO, not an origin player. He didn't really do anything in games 1 and 2, though still gets picked and what did he do, nothing again. I would of rather had Ryles, Kite, Simpson and O'Meley over this soft c*ck.

Sorry Woody though I disagree with you, I thought Gidley was our best player last night, and I reckon he was the best of the 34 players out there. Still stuns me with the selectors sticking with Stewart over Gids. I also thought bedsy was great aswell.

The selctors have to wear some of the blame aswell IMO, they don't always seem to pick the form players, they seem to stick with the 'big name' players at times. It seems to me that they listen to the media more than watching the games for themselves and selecting from that.

Good analysis there Poms and I agree with all of the points you make. Regarding the front row, Luke Douglas has been the form prop in the competition and in my opinion deserved selection ahead of all the names you mentioned - if Mitchell Pearce was deemed experienced enough to make his Origin debut, then there is no way that Dougie isn't. Queensland boasted an all-star backline and halves pairing, and the only way NSW was going to nullify this edge was to dominate the forward exchanges - throughout the series however they struggled to even achieve parity up front, and I see this as the major reason for the Blues ending up on the losing side of the ledger.

I've been a critic of Gallen's over the years and finally this year and last I was convinced he is a worthy player. My problems before with him were he dropped the ball too many times and gave away stupid penalties. But in 07 and 08 he has really picked up his game and I reckon he is the heart and soul of the Sharks. But he did go back to his old days last night, he gave away two silly penalties and tried to offload the ball a few times when it wasn't on. I like Gal, and I would always have him in my Sharks team but I can't blame people for bagging his game last night. It wasn't a true Gal performance.

The good news is that he'll be primed for a big one against Manly!!

Your right mega, Douglas does deserve to be mentioned with the names I put up. I just didn't name him because for some reason he missed selection for City, so I knew he was a no chance.

Maybe next year for Douglas, if he keeps up his recent form and gets selected for City and plays well who knows he may be in the line-up.

Ist up i would blame selectors,i`am sure there there better players avaliable.

2nd, i would blame the coach,he has stated that he hates playing against his own team, that can`t be a positive thing.

3rd,we played crap, the backs didn`t see the ball. One up running, dummy half runs that went now where,**** kicking game.Gallen had a very average game, probably tried to hard ,at least he was noticed on the field. That penelty with thurston was a joke, nothing in it.Qld have some talent and they used it better on the day.

White, Cross...missing in action yet again.
Hoffman...very ordinary.

Very true mate, Cross is the most over rated player in the game at the moment. Sure he is big and sure he had a decent grand final last year but if you watch closely he is basically a giant tackle bag. He gets punished 4/5 hit ups and there is no better example than when he got dropped on his head. Front rowers should not be getting dropped on their head. In my opinion there has been no better prop this year than Josh Perry. I really think that a Perry/Ryles would have given us much more. Douglas is a far better player than Ross. Far better. The selectors are out of touch IMO. Ryan Hoffman looks great when he is running wide off Cronk or Smith at Olympic Park but he was found wanting in the last two games. He will struggle to keep his spot.

i thought gallen was quiet early, especially in attack. as the game progressed and it became evident nsw was devoid of ideas beyond inside ball after inside ball after inside ball after inside ball he took more risks in the way of miracle offloads. these look good when they come off but unfortunately resulted in a couple of turnovers last night. these and the silly penalty were signs that he knew we were in trouble and was desperately trying to arrest the slide. as usual, it was a tireless effort from gal but overall he was below his best. and it's true, qld harrassed him in defence because they knew he can offload the ball. he did the best he could under the circumstances. our halves were ****e and if anasta is ever picked for origin again i'll fair dinkum defect to qld.
