Some people get picked because they stand up in these games. Look at QLD they could be (and a lot of them are atm) be playing like busteds but they lift during the big games. Sucks when you are a supporter of that club to see but blokes like Bird and Hayne I want them in state of origin because they have been there and they always perform.

People's hatred for fergie is getting in the way of their judgement

origin games are usually very close, so having one of, if not the best goal kicker in the nrl in your team.
could be the difference between winning and losing.
that is one reason for picking gordan over fergo, another reason would be the combination that he
already has with lewis and gallen. i think daley would love the idea of gordan running into open space from
off loads from gallen and lewis.
gordans defence is better than fergos would be another reason.
but the single factor why i think fergo will not get picked is, to win footy games teams need to be united and
moving in the same direction.
the team is hardly going to be united if the captain hates one of his winger.

Why don't we wait how he goes against a side that doesnt turn its tail and hide when things get tough. Do you remember how well he went against Souths in last years finals?? Red hot form going into it Souths put the pressure on him and he fluffed it, missed tackles, drop balls. Thats what you'll get in origin from him.

So you're judging him on one game? I remember Slater having some shocking games earlier in his career. Happens to the best.

you just have to see a match between the sharks and the raiders to see the hatred all sharks players
have towards fergo. he seems to get a lot more attention and cop bigger hits than other oppostion
wingers.

They're big boys. What happens on the field stays on the field. Gal might get a say at Cronulla but do you really think guys like Bob Fulton will be told who to select from Gal?

Not one but many, he is not early in his career he is 5 years into his career. And lets be 100% honest he is nowhere near as talented as Slater. Either in brains or physical skill.
